Last week, we speculated that Batman: Arkham City's Catwoman content would be bundled with new copies of the game, but that players buying the game used will need to purchase the character separately. Warner Bros. has now confirmed that to be the case.

As reported by Eurogamer, the Catwoman content will cost 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360, which is equivalent to $9.99 on PlayStation 3.

"Playing as Catwoman is not required to complete the game," Warner Bros. told Eurogamer.

Before confirmation came from Warner Bros., the online pass was revealed by leaked gameplay footage of the game's title screen, which reads, "Catwoman is a unique character with her own story, moves, and weapons. Unlock Catwoman by redeeming the [code] included in the game case or by visiting Xbox Live Marketplace."

The code will unlock four story scenes that feature Catwoman as a playable character, as well as unlocking her for use in the Riddler's Revenge challenge mode. Players will still encounter Catwoman if they play through the single-player campaign without redeeming the code, but the playthrough won't include missions that involve controlling her.

Batman: Arkham City will be in stores Oct. 18, 2011

UPDATE: Correction. Catwoman will be available for owners of NEW COPIES of Batman: Arkham City. If you purchase the game used, you will have to purchase Catwoman as a playable character

I know what you mean. I remember them saying in an interview a while back when she was first announced that she was in only like 10% of the final product. I hope this is not true because I got the collectors too

and now all the people who didn't even want to play as catwoman can just not download her, I was surprised how many people actually didn't want to use her even though it is only 10% of the game. Now they can have there wish. Me, I am gonna play as catwoman, Robin, Red Robin, and Night wing, and anyone else they feel like releasing as dlc later on, maybe a batgirl, or batwoman.

The way I am thinking it should work is, when you get the game then it will either come with a code or allow you to download the character instantly from the PSN Network or xbox live market place. as along as you buy the game new then it should be free
