Gameplay
The gameplay is pretty simple in that you’re essentially having an online conversation with someone who is supposed to be a female named Emily. Throughout these conversations, you will experience hardships such as where to go to college, what you’re going to be doing with friends, who you’re going to be dating etc all while you catch up with your good friend, Emily. It’s essentially an interactive novel type game where you have to make a choice to advance to the next step of the game. The choices that spark conversation range from really exciting, to really boring, to really depressing. There are 5 chapters spanning your senior year of high school to your senior year of college. You will talk to Emily, you will hang out with Emily, and you will hate Brad…Emily’s on/off boyfriend and the bane of your existence.
Audio
Not much to speak of, the only audio is the sound of you typing on a keyboard with the log-in and IM audio from AIM.
Visuals/Design
Lumping these 2 together because all it is, is a buddy list and an IM box.
Content
I’d say that this is a one time only game as the conversations are essentially the same regardless of the choices you may make. Though there are the exceptions where you can REALLY piss the AI off and the conversations will end early, then as you progress the AI wont want to talk at all.
Performance
It runs smoothly, and doesnt take up much memory, unless your computer is a potato and cant even run flash games.
Verdict
If you want to relive your teenage years where you lose the girl even though you say the right things, this is the game for you. The only downfall is that you’re not actually typing the choices and all you have to really do is mash the space bar and the words will come up on the screen. For an interactive novel it served it’s purpose in the short term but it’s not something that has replay value. Everything ends the same.
