At the 2013 STIFEL Technology Conference EA's CFO let slip that a new Star Wars Battlefront game is in development!
"The opportunity to do a new Battlefront, for example, which is one of the very popular Star Wars games, or some of the other traditional games that were made, is very exciting."
He went on to say that that after Disney shut down LucasArts and teamed up with EA they will make games not based off the new films but still be released the same time which would be 2015!
"These aren't movie games, per se; these are stand-alone games," he said. "But obviously they would come out near the movies and be able to tailgate off of some of the buzz that will be created around the new Star Wars movies."
Battlefront 3 has been in video game limbo since Free Radical went under and its version of the game was scrapped even though it was 99% complete. Now under EA we may have a completely different Battlefront game but a Battlefront game none the less! And with DICE the creator of the online part of Battlefield and we may get a great Star Wars Online Shooter!
Expect an official announcement at E3 2013 during the EA Conference which will showcase Battlefield 4 and.....upcoming Star Wars games!
