Will There Ever Be a Perfect Video Game Movie?

With so many poorly portrayed movies out there being made from Video Games, I wonder. Will there ever be a perfect one?

As a Huge Video Game fanatic, I always have a movie planned in the back of my mind for the current game I am playing. I remember when God of War came out, I kept thinking man, you know who would be incredible in this movie either Djimon Hounsou or Vin Diesel.

But with so many movies being made from the stories and characters of video games (i.e. Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Super Mario, Doom, Tomb Raider, Max Payne) I can't help but wonder if there will ever be that IDEAL Video Game turned Movie that won't make us turn away in disgust.

Now even though we know how bad these movies are, we can't help but watch them just to be that certain that they suck more than a room full of vacuums. For instance, who can remember when we first saw big ol' King Koopa in Super Mario the movie, we were expecting some huge Turtle/Dinosaur looking thing when we actually get a human?

Or when you saw Doom and well, the whole movie was bad ha-ha, lets just leave it at that.

But when negativity comes to play you better believe that positive thinking comes back swinging. So to start off, who remember a little movie known as Pokemon The First Movie. Now even though I was 8 at the time that this movie came out, I still believe that it is one of the best video-game to movie, movie's ever made. I mean who couldn't help but feel sorry for Mewtwo when he found out that his whole life was a lie. Or what about when Ash sacrificed himself to stop all of the violence, that was one hell of a tear jerker.

Not only Pokemon, but Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, and Max Payne were pretty good. I mean sure they all had pieces of horrible portrayal and certain things didn't make sense but they did get the games pretty spot on. Angelina Jolie cast as Lara Croft was probably the best decision considering she indeed kicked serious ass as that role and not to mention she's hot. I know quite a few of us, had a little crush on Lara Croft while playing Tomb Raider. Hell, even Jake Gyllenhaal surprised me as Prince Dastan in Prince of Persia.

Now as I conclude my Video-game rant, I can't help but wonder what's in store for the years to come. There has been talk of a God of War movie, a Call of Duty movie, a Splinter Cell movie, a Metal Gear Solid movie, and a Mass Effect movie for many years. Will they ever happen I don't know. But my last question is this, What does it take to make a great Video Game movie? Does it depend on the actors and the characters they are to portray or does it depend on the Writing and the Director involved?

(P.S. I know I only put in certain movies out of the thousands of horribly made VGM but that's just cause I didn't want to ramble on and on.)
