Universal Is Reportedly Moving Forward With A Big-Screen Adaptation Of The GEARS OF WAR Video Game
After numerous false starts, it looks like a feature adaptation of Microsoft's extremely popular Gears of War video game series is finally getting off the ground at Universal. More past the jump...
Will Hollywood finally manage to get a Gears of War movie up and running? There have been several attempts at a live-action adaptation of Microsoft's sci-fi video game over the years, with New Line and director Len Wiseman coming closest - but since the rights lapsed it's remained in development hell... until now.
According to THR, Universal has now optioned the rights to bring Marcus Fenix and the Locust Horde to the big screen, with Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark producing via their production company, Bluegrass Films. The project doesn't have a director or writer attached yet, so probably best not to get too excited until more progress is made.
Thoughts? Gears of War 4 will be released for XBox 1 and Windows 10 on October 11.
