BLOODSHOT Star Eiza González Appears To Confirm Her Interest In Playing DCU's New WONDER WOMAN

There's currently a lot of confusion surrounding James Gunn and Peter Safran's plans for the new DCU. While the former has been pretty transparent when it comes to DC Studios' future plans, he's remained oddly quiet regarding Wonder Woman.

Gal Gadot has claimed she'll reprise the role after meetings with Gunn and Safran, but studio sources later told the trades that there are no plans for her in the reboot (which will bring back some DCEU actors and characters but is set to replace the vast majority). Someone isn't telling the truth...we just don't know who!

In many respects, though, casting a new Wonder Woman feels like the best possible next step.

Gadot turns 39 next year and DC Studios' initial plans are expected to take upwards of a decade to play out. Assuming Diana Prince is as central to their plans as Batman and Superman, then a younger star standing alongside the more youthful Caped Crusader and Man of Steel would be a logical direction to head in.

We'd also be remiss not to point out the baggage Gadot brings with her after starring in a number of poorly received DC movies, including cameos on this year's mega-flops, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash

One fan-favourite actress for the role is Baby Driver, Bloodshot, and Ambulance star Eiza González.

Recently, Gunn celebrated "Wonder Woman Day" with a piece of badass artwork by DC Comics artist David Finch. Many of the comments on the post are eager DC fans asking what the future holds in store for Gadot's Amazon warrior, but González's reply has sent speculation into overdrive.

"This image is the one," she stated, leaving many to wonder whether she's now actively campaigning for the role of Wonder Woman in the new DCU.

She definitely looks the part and, despite not being of Greek descent, the actress does look like a version of Diana who has stepped straight out of the comics. Whether that's enough to earn her this role remains to be seen but DC Studios plans to explore Themyscira in a prequel TV series which we're assuming will lay the groundwork for Wonder Woman's role in the DCU.

Do you think González would be a good pick to play the Amazon in place of Gadot? Feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
