BLOODSHOT Star Eiza González Appears To Confirm Her Interest In Playing DCU's New WONDER WOMAN

Bloodshot star Eiza González has seemingly confirmed her interest in playing Wonder Woman after responding to a recent social media post by DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn. Check out what she said here...

There's currently a lot of confusion surrounding James Gunn and Peter Safran's plans for the new DCU. While the former has been pretty transparent when it comes to DC Studios' future plans, he's remained oddly quiet regarding Wonder Woman.

Gal Gadot has claimed she'll reprise the role after meetings with Gunn and Safran, but studio sources later told the trades that there are no plans for her in the reboot (which will bring back some DCEU actors and characters but is set to replace the vast majority). Someone isn't telling the truth...we just don't know who!

In many respects, though, casting a new Wonder Woman feels like the best possible next step.

Gadot turns 39 next year and DC Studios' initial plans are expected to take upwards of a decade to play out. Assuming Diana Prince is as central to their plans as Batman and Superman, then a younger star standing alongside the more youthful Caped Crusader and Man of Steel would be a logical direction to head in.

We'd also be remiss not to point out the baggage Gadot brings with her after starring in a number of poorly received DC movies, including cameos on this year's mega-flops, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash

One fan-favourite actress for the role is Baby Driver, Bloodshot, and Ambulance star Eiza González.

Recently, Gunn celebrated "Wonder Woman Day" with a piece of badass artwork by DC Comics artist David Finch. Many of the comments on the post are eager DC fans asking what the future holds in store for Gadot's Amazon warrior, but González's reply has sent speculation into overdrive.

"This image is the one," she stated, leaving many to wonder whether she's now actively campaigning for the role of Wonder Woman in the new DCU.

She definitely looks the part and, despite not being of Greek descent, the actress does look like a version of Diana who has stepped straight out of the comics. Whether that's enough to earn her this role remains to be seen but DC Studios plans to explore Themyscira in a prequel TV series which we're assuming will lay the groundwork for Wonder Woman's role in the DCU.

Do you think González would be a good pick to play the Amazon in place of Gadot? Feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

@micvalpro - Lynda Carter's mom was of Spanish descent. She was still white.
Taonrey
Taonrey - 10/23/2023, 9:59 AM
@micvalpro - half Mexican, just like Zendaya half white. People tend to ignore those halves though.

@CoHost - a huge portion of Mexico is what Americans would consider white lol you think someone like Canelo Alvarez doesn't have European ancestry.
CoHost
CoHost - 10/23/2023, 10:07 AM
@Taonrey - Mexican is a nationality, not a race.

micvalpro - 10/23/2023, 10:19 AM
@CoHost - And… yet people will use the fact that Eliza isn’t Greek.

@micvalpro - First off, it's "Lynda" and she's half Irish half Mexican along with French descent.

Get it right. What is it with Americans and Brits singling our racial ethnicities with mixed people? 🤨

Taonrey - 10/23/2023, 10:50 AM
@CoHost - my point is there plenty of white Mexicans.

@micvalpro - I've always said it's the appearance that matters. If they look like the character and can act, that's what matters.

@Origame - Exactly. And portraying the character correctly on screen.

@DarthAlgar - What is it with people assuming everyones either American or British?!
She's still Mexican. I could care less but people wont allow actors now to act because of their background. I want whoever potrays the character correctly. I dont care where theyre from.

@Taonrey - Still Mexican. but like you said, people choose to ignore.

@Taonrey -

So Obama wasn’t the first black President since he was half white?
Taonrey
Taonrey - 10/23/2023, 12:25 PM
@HulkisHoly - he's half black and half white, he's mixed, ignoring the other half is weird.

@CoHost - kang and valkery in comics are white people in movies there both played by black people but non comic accurate fan casting people forget information when comparing new actor to play Logan or Superman

I think she could do well as Wonder Woman but I think she would have made a better Hawkgirl before Isabel Merced was cast…

Anyway , I could see her as Zatanna also.

She's a bland actress unfortunately. No range there and not a single performance that speaks to her being able to carry something like Diana.
RedFury
RedFury - 10/23/2023, 10:02 AM
@GhostDog - I agree. She's absolutely stunning, and could certainly look the part. But she's unfortunately not a great actress. Definitely couldn't carry her on franchise.
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 10/23/2023, 10:06 AM
@GhostDog - I thought she did well in Ambulance and Baby Driver especially

Those were different characters I felt.
CoHost
CoHost - 10/23/2023, 10:06 AM
@RedFury - She did good in Baby Driver but not much else.
GhostDog
GhostDog - 10/23/2023, 10:08 AM
@TheVisionary25 - She was fine in Baby Driver but I think the memorable, charismatic turns in that were Spacey, Foxx and Hamm.
GhostDog
GhostDog - 10/23/2023, 10:09 AM
@RedFury - exactly. Gorgeous woman but I think her acting isn't the thing driving these fancasts. Which look is important but they have to be able to carry the role.

I think after Gadot we need a dynamic Diana played by a dynamic actress.
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 10/23/2023, 10:11 AM
@GhostDog - that’s true but I felt she stood out in Ambulance to me atleast.
