It is time for a first appearance of Wonder Woman in a movie!

Wonder Woman cameo rumoured in the next Superman/Batman film

Editorial Opinion

As a DC Comics fan and after watching The Avengers last year, I really wanted to see a Justice League (JL) movie in 2015 as initially planned. I was disappointed when it was announced only a Batman/Superman film instead for that year. But, I am getting excited again when I read rumours about the addition of Wonder Woman (WW) in a cameo.

I know that WW had a recent failed attempt as a TV show due too campy but I think that Director Zack Snyder can portray her closer to the new 52 characterisation where she is as an emissary and ambassador from Themyscira with the mission of bringing peace to the outside world and with not secret identity. WW operating methods are made distinctive from Superman and Batman's with her willingness to use deadly force when she judges it necessary. She is also with super powers at the same level as Superman.

The rumours included actresses like Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace), Elodie Yung (GI Joe) , Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious) and Jaimie Alexander (Thor I and II) for this WW cameo which will introduce her for a JL movie and possible a solo film

Jaimie Alexander is my favourite from that group because she has played a relatively similar tough character (Sif in Thor and Thor 2) convincingly, tall (5' 9" - 1.75m) as any of the other contenders, also has the Wonder Woman look and with an age of 29, she can still wait a few years and still be young for a WW solo movie

I certainly hope that the rumour is true and Jaimie Alexander plays the role!

STOP WITH THE JAIMIE ALEXANDER ALREADY!
You morons see a chick play a similar role & you think out of the thousands of young,female actresses in the world only Jaimie fits the bill?

Find a complete unknown like Chris Hemsworth was for Thor.
Find a competent actress with the right look..not that hard if the effort is made.

Hemsworth was famous in UK and Australia because he was on Home and Away for a few years.

The problem with casting Wonder Woman is the physicality/ look. You should have a decent actress (it's not really that hard of a role) with a good body (not in that way) that you can actually believee would beat you up (i'm not refering to the fans who spend they're days on this site eating burgers and pizza). Gina Carano is a good contender and she's actually very charismatic (which is kind of important) if you watch for example her interview with Craig Ferguson. If you don't care about casting an actress with a good body than there's tons of actresses that never appeared in a comic book movie and could easly potray the character. Jamie Alexander isn't even anything close to intimidating in any scene of any movie or tv series I've seen her in.

G'Day,

Firstly, thanks to the staff who changed this article to the Editorial category.

Gina Carano could also be a good choice but I think that Jaimie can bring more depth to the character as she is more experienced as an actress. Also she has more resemblance with WW

As it is mentioned already Chris Hemsworth was known in Australia & England because the popular TV series "Home and Away". he also participated in the Australia chapter of "Dancing with the Stars".

Now, from the group rumoured, Jaimie is my favourite. She even seems very nice as a person taking time recently to visit Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles with full Sif regalia with a big smile (even she plays Sif very tough).

Finally, Thanks for reading and commenting :-)

Cheers

Hopefully we'll get an appearance of Wonder Woman as a cameo in World's Finest to set up a film for her.

Priyanka Chopra? She might be beautiful tiful but at 5' 6½" (1.69 m) is definitely too short for WW

Jaimie Alexander is 6' 9" (1.75 m) which is closer to the reported 6' (1.82 m) WW height. She has also proven herself in a similar role (Lady Sif)

I think the current location of Themyscira (Bermuda Triangle) will make it easy to understand that Amazons can learn good English for being close of Bermuda which is a British territory. Jaimie also hid her own accent when she speaks as Lady Sif so I do not think accent should be a problem.

I think that the Superman/Batman casting were looking for "tall, brunette, athletic and exotic" for the rumoured WW role, nothing related to specific accents :-)

When Christopher Reeves was cast (relatively unknown at the time) , he definitely looked the part , had some acting experience in soap operas and it was a serious student of acting. Now he was chose mainly due his Superman resemblance and proved in a audition that he can act (he also nailed Clark Kent)

I personally think that Jaimie can do it convincingly and she certainly thinks to be a cool job to do according an interview with Jay Leno where she also said that she was fan of WW TV series and comics

Cheers

@MartianAbominationClone

The 5' 6½" (1.69 m) Antje Traue is ruled out also for her height as too short ;-)

Besides honestly Jaimie face looked closer to WW to me and Jaimie had convincingly combat scenes as Sif . Now Antje Traue showed to be more vicious in her MoS role.

I appreciate the suggestion thou so others who are reading have options to make their mind

@MAC

Yeah......Joss's version sounds like it would've been campy then....I had no idea it was set in WW2.

@creyes

Even though she is a good choice......I want them to choose someone less known as every one who looks at JA would see Sif and would take them away from the story. I'm worried about Ben Affleck.....even if he is a good choice for bats......the Bruce Wayne factor is the one everyone will be watching.

@MartianAbominationClone

Well we will have to agree to disagree as I certainly think that Jaimie would not be a miscast (The botton pic in my article comes from a Sif poster which only the WW headband was added along to a WW pic from the comics) lol

In regarding to your question

Yeah I am fan of WW and also Batman, Superman,The Flash, etc. At this point I would love a Justice League movie and as Superman and Batman are already well established characters in the big screen, I think the next one should be WW.

WW has been portrayed in many ways throughout the years in the comics and all the those interpretations were good for their time. I think the current DC New 52 interpretation is also a good one. I personally own Geoff Johns/Jim lee Justice league origin DC comic (Where Martian Hunter is missing)

In brief, The film that I really would like to see is the Justice league which apparently comes after Batman/Superman and definitely will need WW as she is an important JL member :-)

@Brainiac3000

Chris Evans played the Human torch in two Fantastic 4 films and that it did not take me away of the story of Captain America. Sif is a second tier character in Thor that even showcase in what Jaimie could do as Wonder Woman, still did not have as much screen time as the Human Torch.

Yeah, Ben Affleck would have not been my first choice as Batman/Bruce Wayne but now that he landed the role, there is not option but accept it for the time being until I see his performance and then I will talk with the facts in hand :-)
I think that Snyder who knows Goyer script feels that Affleck is his Batman !

I would like Alexander in the role, but the question has been raised as to whether or not her contract with Marvel would even allow it. It is entirely possible that they put in a clause saying she could not appear as a different comic character for a certain number of years.

They'll probably just make her " movie Greek " which is just a British accent. Oh and...

I agree with MAC for the choice of Wonder Woman. It's a shame the actress played Faora in Man of Steel.

I think Olga or Gal could work as they both have that more exotic look (they just need to put on some more muscle) but id be perfectly happy with Jaimie Alexander
