Back in July, DC Comics released a free DC Essentials Catalog (2023) published on the 18th which revealed all the comics and graphic novels that will serve as inspiration for Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters.
There were three Wonder Woman titles listed in the catalog, Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons, Wonder Woman: Paradise Lost (New Edition) and Wonder Woman: Paradise Found (New Edition). It's thought that these new titles will all serve as inspiration for the upcoming Paradise Lost television series for Max.
In the official Gods and Monsters announcement video Gunn described the project as, "We're doing a television series called Paradise Lost. Paradise Lost is the story of Paradise Island, usually known as Themyscira which is the birthplace of Wonder Woman. It's almost like Game of Thrones with Westeros but with all the inhabitants of Paradise Island."
Following that video, Gunn told reporters, "This is a Game of Thrones-type story about the atmosphere of Paradise Island, home of the Amazons and the birthplace of Wonder Woman and this involves all the darkness and drama and political intrigue behind this society of only women."
"It's an origin story of, how did this society women come about? What does it mean? What are their politics like? What are their rules? Who's in charge? What are all the games that they play with each other to get to the top? I think it's a really exciting thing."
As you can see above, the DC reboot and Gunn's shoutout of Historia is skyrocketing its sales numbers.
