Nicole Kidman Won't Appear In WONDER WOMAN After All

Many of us figured this might be the case when the Academy Award winning actress wasn't mentioned in the official cast announcement, but now it's been confirmed that we won't be seeing Nicole Kidman alongside Gal Gadot in the solo Wonder Woman flick...

Early last month it was reported that Nicole Kidman was in talks to join the cast of Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman movie, but it seems a scheduling conflict means that's not going to happen now. It's believed Kidman would have played Diana's (Gal Gadot) mother Queen Hippolyta, though we still don't have definite confirmation of that. One thing we do know, thanks to Variety's Justin Kroll, is that Robin Wright may step in and replace Kidman as whichever character she was up for, even though she currently has a different, unrevealed role.

Gal Gadot will be introduced as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next year, before going on to star in her solo adventure which is set for a June 23rd, 2017 release.

Damn. It would have been cool to see Kidman on screen, but Robin Wright is an Awesome choice too! She might even be better suited for the role to honest

Bruce Jenner is the obvious choice for Hippolyta. That is IF Hollywood is serious about being politically correct.

Gadot is going to own the role. You can tell from her roles on the Israeli Tv shows that she was meant for more, it's one of those rare occasions when you see true talent, she has such screen presence. She also held her own in Knight and Day, in her small cameo with Tom Cruise. I understand we haven't seen much of her yet, but she is going to own the role. And, everyone including Affleck who is a great director has complimented her

@DrKinsolving

Wright would be awesome, right on

Please stop. Affleck is not a great director. Kubrick was a great director. Bergman was a great director. Kurasawa was a great director. Affleck is the poor man's Micheal Mann.

As for Godot, I wonder if her skills will translate to English. Its not uncommon for foreign language actor to come across differently in American films. I am reminded of how Penelope Cruz is such a terrific actress in Spanish drama (see Volver for example) but awfully mediocre in American movies.

@RamonSuarez

Why would you bring up Kubrick? Haha, nobody has been able to replicate Kubrick's style, and nobody will, plus it's getting harder and harder to do what Kubrick did back then, in today's industry because everything has been done already, and artists don't have that type of freedom, especially for bigger films....

Ben Affleck is an award winning Writer, Director, and Actor. He's definitely been in some duds, which he admits too but you can tell that he's changed

Affleck is a great director, will he be a legendary director like Kubrick or Bergman? Only time will tell

@AsapJoker

Gadot is going to own the role.

@Jeight

Jason Statham and Jai Courtney aren't getting roles in movies like Triple 9 or Criminal though, Gadot is.... Both Triple 9 and Criminal have all star casts and directors

Gadot is also starring in the thriller, Criminal (2016) in which Gadot will be joining Ryan Reynolds, Alice Eve, Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman, and Tommy Lee Jones.

And the heist drama, Triple 9 (2016) with Kate Winslet, Norman Reedus, Aaron Paul, Teresa Palmer, Woody Harrelson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Casey Affleck and Anthony Mackie.

I took the Triple 9 trailer down, because it was the Red Band trailer.... You can check it out on youtube

Maybe Robin was originally cast as Julia Kapatelis?

@Jeight ScarJo is not mediocre at all. She doesn't get much to do in the Marvel films (imagine a solo film allowing her to flex some more acting muscles), but holy hell her works with Woody Allen, last year's Under the Skin, Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation and even the voice role in Spike Jonze's Her shows that she's a very capable actress.

@Jeight

I never called you a "troll", man?? Where did that come from.... I am simply expressing my opinion, compared to yours....

Emily Ratajowksi was not cast as Wonder Woman, so your proving my point, that has nothing to do with anything. Plus, she played her role in Gone Girl well, the sentence or 2 of dialogue that she was hired to perform. Jada Pinkett Smith has been in the business for a long, long time. She actually has a fan base, so her being cast in Collateral made sense, and actually she played her role in Collateral well, saying that she didn't is subjective. I didn't like her on Gotham either but that's subjective, it doesn't mean that she can't act, her career goes all the way back to the 90's with "Menace II Society" and "Demon Knight" etc....

Gina Carino, also wasn't cast as Wonder Woman, and she was obviously cast in Deadpool because she has the potential to make great action scenes. Again, your proving my point.

Ariel Vromen and John Hillcoat have both made great films and they chose to cast Gal Gadot. Neither Emily Ratajowksi, Gina Carino, or Jada Pinkett Smith have recently been cast in movies like Triple 9 or Criminal.

That says something about the types of roles and the quality of acting that those directors feel Gal Gadot can bring to their films

@Jeight

If you want to say that your not sure if she'll be good for the part, because you haven't see much of her on screen, then right on, but the argument your making doesn't hold up. What your doing is just throwing out random names of actresses from different stages in their career to try and support your argument.

Why don't you include Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro too? What have they done recently? But they are still some of the greatest actors of all time.

Olga Kurylenko wasn't cast as Wonder Woman, the studio and Snyder chose Gal Gadot over her.... your proving my point, the studio feels that Gal suits the role better, and from what we've seen from the trailers and the promo pics, Gal looks perfect for both Diana Prince and Wonder Woman.

Kristen Stewart can act, you just might not like her, she's in 4 films next year, including a Woody Allen film, and she has had a very successful career and has a fanbase.

Tyler Perry is completely different than Gal Gadot, and has a completely different career. But, if you want to compare Perry's role in Gone Girl to Gadot, Perry played his role in Gone Girl extremely well, and he was convincing.

Look at the actors and actresses and directors that Gal Gadot is working with and has worked with so far, and look at how those actors and actresses and directors have continued to compliment her.... That means something, that's why she continues to build her resume and rise within the industry and ultimately, I'm sure that it played a big part in her getting the role of Wonder Woman.

@Nubase

I agree, judging her now is stupid, like a lot of the debates on here, haha, their just so easy to get drawn into, ha. We're basically talking about nothing after awhile, because the movie isn't out yet

I feel like there's nothing wrong with getting excited about seeing her on screen, after the trailer and seeing stuff like this

DrKinsolving
DrKinsolving - 12/19/2015, 11:31 AM
@Reasonnnn

I agree, Scarlett can definitely act, "Lost in Translation" , "Ghost World" , "The Prestige" , "Her" (even if it was only her voice, ha) etc....
DrKinsolving
DrKinsolving - 12/19/2015, 11:38 AM
@Jeight

Critics and other directors, and actors, have also given Kristen Stewart praise, not just her fanbase, that's one of the reasons that she is still getting work

And, Gal Gadot actually has shown us that she can act, her cameo in "Knight and Day" and her work on Israeli Tv shows, etc, but we haven't seen if she can headline a movie

What we do know is that Warner Brothers is so convinced that she can headline a movie that Wonder Woman is already slated with a release date and they have already begun filming the movie.

So, I really don't know what argument your making, other than the fact that your disagreeing with Warner Brothers and extremely capable directors over their casting choices.

DrKinsolving
DrKinsolving - 12/19/2015, 11:41 AM
What we do know is that

Warner Brothers have seen Gadot's performance as Wonder Woman and they have confidence in her, so does the cast.... and they are investing lots of money into the Wonder Woman movie

Everything else is just talk until the movie is released

@Jeight

This is going no where. You can do whatever you want dude, people have different opinions, and my opinion is different from yours.

If you don't like Gal Gadot, or don't think she can act, than more power to you. I think she's awesome, and I can't wait to see her on screen, people complain about great actors and actresses all of the time, especially on this site.

Anyway, peace. I'm out

I have to finish getting ready for Christmas next week, ha

@Jeight

When I said "if you don't like her" I meant her acting, dude. I know that you don't know her personally.... Why even say that??

I meant it as the same reason that some people don't like Eisenberg, or don't like RDJ, or don't like "Insert Actor or Actress" here
