RUMOR: Wonder Woman Movie Still On Track For A 2013 Release?

A recent report claims that reliable sources close to Warner Bros. have revealed that the studio is still moving ahead with a big screen Wonder Woman adaptation, set to be released in 2013...

Posted last week, Modern Myth Media (who are loosely connected with Batman-On-Film) have run a story claiming to have been contacted by a source close to Warner Bros. who tells them that a big screen adaptation of Wonder Woman is still on track for release in 2013. While the report is far from definite, could this mean we'll see the DC heroine in cinemas alongside already confirmed Marvel Studios movies, Iron Man 3 and Thor 2.

MMM has received word from a new source close to Warner Bros. indicating the studio is developing a Wonder Woman film for a potential 2013 release.

While this new source appears to be legitimate, take this news with a grain of salt. Even our source admits that the project is in very early developmental stages, meaning that Warner Bros. is far off from actually committing to this production.

Personally, I find it a little hard to believe after both the cancellation of the Wonder Woman TV show and disappointing box office performance of Green Lantern, DC would be this quick in planning another movie featuring a character other than Batman or Superman. However, with The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel coming out next year, DC and Warner Bros. will need something big to follow them up with in 2013, especially as the latter no longer have the Harry Potter franchise to fall back on.

Who knows? Perhaps the Amazonian warrior might just fare a little better on the big screen! As the above excerpt states, it's best to take this with a grain of salt, but be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.

It [frick]ing better be. I say use the same method as Thor use a relatively unknown actress and surround her with tons of talent. Just forget all the glitter and make it real gritty though.

They can't go on making Batman films forever and they know it, period.
However, this doesn't necessarily mean we will see a WW film, just that they are considering making one.

if the studio hasnt announce it yet, a 2013 release seems too soon.

They havent announced the writer yet, much less a director....

but who knows? maybe they start moving quickly since now...

I Hope this is true. And if it is, I hope it doesn't fail. There is only one way this movie could be done that will be pleasing to audiences, - Gore. Not like that stupid show that was going to be released.

WB/DC need to shit or get off the pot. everyone knows they're getting owned and it looks as if they'll be no end in sight from the ownage.

they're all over the [frick]ing place. no cavill, no Bale in the justice league film, and now we hear of a WW film when we're supposed to be getting a JL league film? smh.

In a couple of weeks cap is gonna deliver the knockout punch.

@brazilianbatman

I'm glad I'm not the only bothered by that particular part in Green Lantern. If they were travelling at light speed it'd be a different story. But it totally looked like he was just cruising a gentle 50-60 mph on the highway. It seemes like a small nitpick but it makes the space scenes seem fake and unbelievable. (versus the fantastic bifrost scenes from Thor.)

Megan fox is hot but she can't act, is not like you need a meryl streep actress to play her but still...

because we all watch CBM's for realism right? These characters are so far from realistic as it is. Idk about you guys but I go to the movies and read comic books to escape from reality. Other than that brazilian I do tend to agree with a lot of what you say on this site.
(not directed at brazilianbatman.)You people look too much into these movies

the formula to SUCCESS:
a HUGE name to the role(A-list actress), a RESPECTED director and producer, and least but not last, a REALLY "WONDERFULL" script.

if WB/DC are bold enough and espected the deserved buzz of the most known female hero in the world, they need a unexpected name, like KATY PERRY. yeah, that's seriously.

who the [frick] is cobie smulders? I haven't seen her in anything but she looks the part. I say give her a chance.

I don't get the love for CS. She is a terrible actress. I like the costume design there, but she would be awful.

I also am not even sure how this passes as news. "Someone somewhere, who I'm telling you with certainty is reliable, even though I can't reveal who they are, says that WB is thinking about this movie. They haven't committed yet, though, so take it with a grain of salt." That's not freaking news. That's a waiter at some event gala overhearing some WB exec telling a hot chick he wants to get with that he could get her a job as Wonder Woman if she sleeps with him.

@StrangerX ever watch How I met your Mother?
Hellsing
Hellsing - 7/9/2011, 8:42 AM
hopefully this is true because looks like they've finally come to there sense's and giving a character who's meant to be apart of the "big three" of DC a movie. How GL got a movie before Wonder Woman still has me a bit confused but anyways hope its true one of my favourite DC characters. Cobie Smaulders would be awesome but she's all tied up with Marvel now and so is Jaimie Alexander two of my favourites but they need to go the Thor route and get a total unknown(cause that worked like a charm) and get a classy actress of WW mother

StrangerX - 7/9/2011, 8:44 AM

I don't think an unknown is going to work for WW. This is going to need serious star power. Have Angelina Jolie gain 20 to 25 pounds and let her do it.

if they do a Wonder Woman movie first of they need a director who understand the character plus get good screen writers no fricking TV screen writers.

@Millioso46

sorry but a unknown is better than star power.

@brazilianbatman

Megan Fox sucks as a actress no way she should play Wonder Woman plus she dont like Wonder Woman.

@Intruder

as much i like Cobie Smulders i think WB/DC should not cast actors from a Marvel movie to do a DC film.

its a curse right now look at Halle Berry and Ryan Reynolds both played a Marvel character then they play a DC character and both of them movies end up sucking lol :P

JULEZ13

2013 seems to be too soon for this movie to be released. That means they would have to start the casting process early next year depending on the time of year they will release it.

A somewhat unknown actress will need to be cast. There's no "known" of famous actress out right now that would be perfect for the role. Also, whoever plays WW you want the actress to be synonymous with Diana/WW, kind of like how they did with Superman. I don't want to think of the actresses previous work when I look at the film.

The earliest this film would be out would be 2014 - the earliest!

I agree with what someone posted that she is part of the "Big 3" and I also have no idea how GL got a film before her. Not to be sexist but it's obviously because she's a female hero and no solo movie with a female lead role has been successful so far. Whoever makes WW will have the enormously difficult task to change that.

Seeing how GL turned out I am a bit hesitant about this film and any of their other films that don't have to do with Batman, and Superman - though I still need to be shown that it will be good with MOS. The next DC film without Batman or Superman will either make or break WB/DCE.

@jazzman: I liked Erin Cummings in Spartacus (that's all I know her in). I would have to see her in a screen test before I give a definitive yes, but so far she's the best option that was brought up on this site.

Cobie Smulders looks a bit to manly for the role, I can't get over her defined, manly jawline.

i wouldn't get my hopes up to high,green lantern is doing shit & dc are gonna hide behind batman & superman like usual.

-supergirl
-superman 3
-superman 4
-superman returns
-batman forever
-batman & robin
-catwoman
-steel
-jonah hex
-green lantern

four batman & two superman films is not a good track record.
jazzman
jazzman - 7/9/2011, 9:35 AM
@Intruder

she wouldnt be a bad chose but remember the curse Marvel actors to star in DC film never works.

@marvel72

the problem with GL is that the character himself with his powers felt campy anyway they should of did something like Tron Legacy with the special effects wise and had a director and screen writer who knows to make the character work on film. every time i see Tron Legacy trailer i feel theirs amazing stuff that can work for GL.
