Posted last week,
Modern Myth Media (who are loosely connected with
Batman-On-Film) have run a story claiming to have been contacted by a source close to Warner Bros. who tells them that a big screen adaptation of
Wonder Woman is still on track for release in 2013. While the report is far from definite, could this mean we'll see the DC heroine in cinemas alongside already confirmed Marvel Studios movies,
Iron Man 3 and
Thor 2.
MMM has received word from a new source close to Warner Bros. indicating the studio is developing a Wonder Woman film for a potential 2013 release.
While this new source appears to be legitimate, take this news with a grain of salt. Even our source admits that the project is in very early developmental stages, meaning that Warner Bros. is far off from actually committing to this production.
Personally, I find it a little hard to believe after both the cancellation of the
Wonder Woman TV show and disappointing box office performance of
Green Lantern, DC would be this quick in planning another movie featuring a character other than Batman or Superman. However, with
The Dark Knight Rises and
Man of Steel coming out next year, DC and Warner Bros. will need something big to follow them up with in 2013, especially as the latter no longer have the
Harry Potter franchise to fall back on.
Who knows? Perhaps the Amazonian warrior might just fare a little better on the big screen! As the above excerpt states, it's best to take this with a grain of salt, but be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.
