WONDER WOMAN Sequel Reportedly Set To Start Shooting As Soon As This May In The UK

While it was previously reported that Warner Bros. was aiming for a summer shoot, it seems they've now settled on an exact date and location to commence production on the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel...

The sequel to the DC Extended Universe's biggest success yet, Wonder Woman, is currently set to hit theatres on November 1st, 2019. We had heard that Warner Bros. was aiming for a summer production schedule now that the story had been settled upon, thanks to confirmation by producer Charles Roven, who said in an interview with Comicbook.com:

We're in what I would call development of the screenplay." Roven said. "We finally, I think, have a good story to tell. Not kind of – we do believe we have a good story to tell. And then we're also just moving out of what normally we would call soft prep into hard prep. We're hoping to start shooting the movie sometime this summer, and hope to have it out by the end of '19.

According to Omega Underground, Warner Bros. has finally decided upon an exact date and location to begin shooting the Wonder Woman sequel. Apparently, they plan on getting the cameras rolling as soon as May 28th, beginning in the United Kingdom. Wonder Woman will be the second of three DC Extended Universe projects to begin shooting this year, with Shazam! already in production and Suicide Squad 2 also set to begin filming later in the year.

It was also recently revealed that Warner Bros. is looking for a big name to fill the role of Cheetah in the film, and at the moment it seems they're in talks with Ghostbusters star Kristen Wiig. Director Patty Jenkins is still on-board to helm the sequel, and it appears it's quickly coming together. Hopefully it'll be just as good, if not better than the first which was both a critical and financial success.

What's your take on the recent Wonder Woman 2 news? Are you looking forward to it?

BRING. HIM. BACK.

@Pantherpool - I’d honestly hate if they brought Trevor back in any “conventional” sense, I’d like to see Pine return because who wouldn’t want to recapture that magic and chemistry but you have to be VERY careful how you do it.

I wouldn’t necessarily be opposed to a flashback to an interaction we didn’t see in Wonder Woman or as a hallucination / dream / prophesy like vision similar to the way Kyle Reese appeared to Sarah Connor in T2: Judgement Day.

I would be perfectly fine with that. I just need him to return in some way.

@Pantherpool - As long as they don't underplay his sacrifice, that never ends well.

I absolutely adored the first film to no measure, and am very excited for the sequel.

Though I must say I'm a bit upset that Allan Heinberg isn't coming back to work on the script, and the person they've gotten to work on it with Geoff Johns and Patty Jenkins doesn't entirely inspire confidence but they've earned my trust on this.

Really looking forward to this. Patty Jenkins delivered the best DCEU film so far, and a good film as well.

@BlindWedjat - i liked WW ALOT but i think mos was better

@Krav - only if you take away the tornado death scene. That was ridiculous and contrived. The rest I quite liked. It wasn’t great on the character front but the action and spectacle were insane. Light years beyond JL which is very strange.

@Krav - I can admit that there are definitely some things MoS does better than WW as someone disliked the film

@connorblaze - The tornado scene was the strangest thing to me when I saw it. It's one of those scene were everything leading up to it and happens in it is just really dumb.

I think the action in MoS has definitely been the best in the DCEU, even though I felt it got tedious at times. CGI was really great too. Had the film delivered a more balanced tone and better character/acting stuff it could have been I think one of my favourite superhero films

@connorblaze - really don’t get what people’s problem with the tornado scene is.

@BlindWedjat - Most well received. It is tied with the best, though.

@connorblaze - Clark Kent wants to use his abilities to help others after his mother saves him in grade school, but lives in a world where so much as using his abilities to help someone change a tire could put his family and friends in danger if the wrong person finds out. So he travels the country using his abilities to help others under multiple aliases and disappears no questions asked until he finds out where he's from and the uniform with the crest of the house of El.

Then, when the world is threatened, he risks his secret and those who could suffer if the wrong people find out about it, by wearing the uniform as a disguise and showing his face to the world to prevent Zod from destroying Earth with his colonization and he achieves his goal of using his abilities to help others, while protecting his family and friends by becoming Superman. That sounds like a lot of character to me, and I haven't even focused on Zod or Lois Lane yet.

@BloodyBed - They think Clark Kent let Jonathan die to save himself. Even though he actually sacrificed his life to protect his wife, his son, and everyone in Smallville.

@SisterSunday52 - yeah I get all that, that much is obvious. But we’re talking about different kinds of character. Correct me if I’m wrong but you’re talking about moral character and the thematic power behind the character and his story? I had no problem with that, tornado scene aside. I was talking in a much more general sense about the characters in the film being likeable, interesting and charismatic. Which come down to writing and acting. I like Cavill but I just wasn’t that interested in him on screen during the film, despite the great arc and thematic journey you explained. Thor has a similar problem at times, although he is plenty charismatic. You don’t understand him on a more relatable, human level as well as you do with characters like Tony Stark or even Batman. He just doesn’t have much of a personality. Nor much in the way of flaws.

@SisterSunday52 - no, it never entered my mind that he let his dad die to save himself. I understand that he did it because his father wanted him to, and because he felt the world wasn’t ready to cope with the impact of seeing someone use superpowers etc. Maybe that would have been convincing had there been a gigantic crowd of people even looking at clarke, or if there weren’t a tornado blocking most people’s view of what would have happened anyway, given Clark’s speed. Or the fact that a crowd of people would even stand there and watch a tornado 10 feet away from them. Or that he couldn’t have run in as just a man, faking being an ordinary hero saving his father as people would expect, saved his dad while inside the tornado, being indestructable and all, and nobody would have seen either of them, and then walked away and claim they were both lucky to suevive. Hell bump each other on the noggin to sell it. You may argue that people would have been suspicious anyway, but this is his own father’s life. They were already suspicious anyway, and continue to be as we see. They couldn’t have proven anything. And clark is so fast he could have zipped in and pulled him away and people would have thought the dad was just swept up by the tornado, or hiding. And nobody would have noticed clark kent wasnt there, because guess what, there’s a [frick]ing tornado there, people don’t notice anyone but their own when they’re panicking or in a crisis.
Look the whole thing can be overanalysed to death, but at a certain point you have to admit it wasnt well executed and came off as silly and forced. Especially with clark being so close to him, that a normal person would have raced in to save their father anyway, so it made him look like a coward to the other townspeople. Add the fact that the dad went in to save a dog and it all just comes across pretty goofy. There’s no way anyone let’s their dad die that close to them, for such a wishy washy principle.
