WONDER WOMAN 3 With Gal Gadot Is Reportedly NOT Moving Forward At Warner Bros.

Contrary to statements made by DCEU Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot, Warner Bros. and James Gunn reportedly have no plans for Wonder Woman 3.

It's unclear where the signals got crossed, but Variety is reporting that Wonder Woman 3 is not moving forward at Warner Bros.

Sources told Variety that outside of the Paradise Lost HBO Max series, there are no plans for Wonder Woman to appear in Chapter One: Gods and Monsters- the DC Studios reboot of Zack Snyder's DCEU.

We here at CBM would caution that due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, actors and actresses are not allowed to promote or discuss past, current, or upcoming films.  Meaning the recent quotes from Gal Gadot were likely made months ago.

That's due to the fact that the recent quotes from Gadot concerning Wonder Woman 3 are spinning out of interviews Gadot did to promote her upcoming Netflix action piece, Heart of Stone, which will be released by the streamer on August 11.  Press junkets often occur in the middle of filming, meaning these interviews likely took place during this past Spring.

Standard studio embargo rules would limit the various press outlets and blogs that are granted access to the cast and crew from publishing their interviews and set pieces until a few weeks before the film is released, in an effort to drum up publicity.

Still, it's odd that Gadot would misinterpret a sit-down meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Gadot's most recent comments were, "I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.

With Superman: Legacy creating a new DC film canon, and Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck not moving forward with their respective roles as Superman and Batman, it was always somewhat baffling that Gadot would be the lone Trinity member to forge ahead.

Variety adds that while a meeting between Gadot, Gunn, and Safran did take place, nothing was ever promised to Gadot  nor "where there any definitive discussion of Gadot’s Wonder Woman continuing with the new DC Universe."

With the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strike, it might be a while before any camp is able to offer any clarity on the situation. Although Gunn may weigh in on Twitter or Threads.

Be sure to check back for future updates on the situation as this likely isn't the last we'll hear from Gadot's camp or the studio.

I liked Gal in the role but they need to not resort to any half measures and just do full hard reboot for the DCU.

But but but Josh’s alter ego made an article saying Gunn and Safran told Gal she’s a lock for

Peter Safran and James Gunn, and they both told me that they're going to develop a third Wonder Woman with me. They said, 'You're in the best hands, you've got nothing to worry about.'

Sucks. Gadot may not be the best actress but she was a great Diana/Wonder Woman. It's gonna be tough to accomplish what she did in the role.

It's all sketchy now. Gal Gadot isn't exactly one to make up a lie out of thin air just like that.

They're basically calling her a liar. This whole "sources" is intentionally trying to call her out. And it's not like Gunn has been better after he said that The Flash was gonna restart the entire DC Universe and that didn't happen at all.

It's all so messy. And not a good look on the co-CEOs of DC Studios.

@NinnesMBC - They never announced wonder woman 3 for the gods and monsters phase. It just means they are not developing it now. Seems like they are saying they will develop it later.
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 8/11/2023, 1:03 AM
@Shivermetimbers - Why then hold a meeting with Gal back weeks/months ago in that case? Unless they also meant that they're gonna meet later if we want to operate under that context.

Fact is that Gunn said they didn't boot Gal out after they "unhired" Cavill. Gunn's slave of his own words and there's only so much that he can rely on technicalities to get away with this.

@NinnesMBC - Yeah, I am saying they are keeping her around. Sounds like they have plans to use her. The article makes it sound like they are firing her or something, but just because they arent actively developing WW3, doesn't mean she is going anywhere. She will probably continue to pop up in other films until her next solo project gets completed.

As long as the actress playing her has boobies and a booty I'm down for it.
We all remember how Christina Hendricks stirred up the rumor mill a decade ago.

After Aquaman 2 (which will probably bomb) nothing from the existing DCEU will continue. It’s fate was sealed the day Gunn and Safran signed to head the studio

@Ha1frican -

Exactly. People are wiggin out and not understanding that Gunn has had to play coy until after AquaMan 2 because there millions of dollars on the line currently. Once AquaMan 2 bombs like Shazam 2, Flash, and Beetle, it’s hard reboot time.

I'd rather this not be continued in any way since WW84 is my least favorite CBM of the 2020's so far. If Morbius didn't exist, I would call it the worst.

"Still, it's odd that Gadot would misinterpret a sitdown meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran."

Exactly, the chances of this happening are next to zero. No one would make such a mistake.

Definitely not a good look for Gunn and Safran. Bad PR move.

Is it possible for an actor/actress to exaggerate in order to create buzz for a film that isn't actually in the works? Hoping to will it into existence by hyping up a rabid fanbase that already succeeded in getting their way before? Wouldn't be the first time.

Not sure why everyone is assuming she's telling the truth and everyone else is lying.
NinnesMBC
NinnesMBC - 8/10/2023, 9:39 PM
@Humperdink - Gal Gadot isn't known for making up such false, hyperbole laims to generate hype for her. Not everyone is The Rock and she always let her work speak up for her. I'd believe that if you provided past examples of her doing those kind of practices, but the truth is she hasn't ever done it.

I'm assuming and siding with her on this based on these receipts of Gunn saying that they "didn't boot Gal" and confirming that they did meet with her.

Gunn is awful with these statements. Remember how he said he had spoken to Ben Affleck about directing a DCU movie and that he was excited about the possibilities etc? Only for Ben Affleck to bluntly say that he would absolutely not direct anything from him and the way they were doing things now.

Worst case scenario Gunn and Safran led her on to believe she was gonna continue being Wonder Woman but in fact were lying and never planned to have her back. Or they did but are now doing damage control in the most lousy way possible. You pick.

@Humperdink - It's obvious what she was doing. She even quoted them "word for word". It's like she's in court or something.

Up until now she struck me as professional, but this is not professional. And I honestly don't think Gunn and Safran play that. They won't be happy about this. Would you?
