Alexandra Shipp Says She's Not Certain About X-MEN Return, But Definitely Wants To Continue Storm's Arc

Though she wasn't given much to do, Alexandra Shipp still managed to make an impression as the younger version of Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse - but, will we see her reprise the role for the next film?

The next movie in the main X-Men franchise - currently being dubbed "Supernova", though we know that won't be the title - still hasn't been officially confirmed, but at this point it's surely only a matter of time before 20th Century Fox makes an announcement.

Sophie Turner has all-but confirmed her involvement already, and now we hear from another member of the young cast that made their debut in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse - though she's less willing to give us anything concrete to go on.

Screenrant caught up with Alexandra Shipp at SXSW, and quizzed her about potentially reprising the role of Storm. "We haven’t gotten any info on that," the actress replied. "When you sign on for a franchise, you definitely sign on for that. But it’s all whatever Fox wants, Fox gets!"

Shipp may be contractually obliged to return one way or the other, but it sounds like she is very much looking forward to getting the opportunity to contine Ororo's story:

I’d really love to see Storm coming into her matriarch form. In the last X-Men, she was very young and she had a different viewpoint. I’d love to see her take on more of a substantial role and really see her come into her own. I want to show how Halle got there. And to do that, I think we just need to show that evolution. And I’m all about a good character arc.”

It sounds like Shipp will indeed be back as Storm, but again, we await official word on that next X-Men flick. Keep an eye on CBM for updates.

As long as she doesn't have any awkward lines about toads being struck by lightning, we good!

Out of the newcomers in Apocalypse, she was my least favorite and I liked Jean, Scott, and Nightcrawler. If she comes back hopefully they give her more spotlight to show what she can do in the role.

She does realize Halle sucked as Storm right? What does she mean matriarchal? Storm literally served no purpose in the movies. She should be concentrating on the chance to get it right and closer to comic book Storm. I swear some people try to be deep and come off ass dip

@newwavesuperman - She means she wants to evolve the character until she gets to the Halle Berry's timeframe in the first X-Men. I doubt she wants to emulate her take on Storm in any way.

I thought she was very good, just underused.

Don't brag about celebrities you've slept with, Ror. What did you think of her performance in the film?

Storm has been disrespected and wasted just as much as Cyclops in these films.

The movies never really really show how powerful Storm is! I'm just totally disappointed in the live.action version of Storm... Nothing to do with the actresses that played the role, it's them movie people that made her a lil bit insignificant, and just a secondary character...

@Darlene1974 - storm is arguably the X-Men's most powerful member.

She a lowkey goddess. She could do things with the weather that Thor can't. We've never seen her true power and it's a shame. Besides that, she's a rich and layered character too who's done a lot for the team.

@BlackBeltJones - I 100% agree with u. Would love for them to make her solo film, but gritty and totally different to the other x solo films style...
Oh well, we can only wish...
ps. My profile pic, that's me as X-Men Legends version of Storm (May 2016)

They will surely use her.
Maybe even in the New Mutants sequel? Who knows...

I rewatched Apocalypse, just to see how I felt about it months later.

It was far worse the second time.

In all honesty, I'd watch the Last Stand ten times over before seeing Apocalypse again.

@MattBellissimo - I can't sit through Apocalypse at all. I clock out after the first 30 minutes.

I had a feeling it would be bad after that first scene.

Last Stand is at least entertaining at times.
