RUMOR: THE ORVILLE Actress Halston Sage May Have Landed The Role Of Dazzler In X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX

It looks like Halston Sage (The Orville, Paper Towns) may have landed the role of Alison Blair, AKA Dazzler, in Simon Kinberg's currently shooting X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Find out more after the jump...

Recently, Omega Underground mentioned 24-year-old The Orville actress Halston Sage as one of the names (along with Suki Waterhouse) they had heard might be in the running to play Dazzler in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and now some fairly strong evidence would seem to back up their initial report - possibly even confirming that she's landed the role.

Not only was Halston spotted alongside the likes of Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, and Nicholas Hoult at a Hans Zimmer concert in Montreal, but one of the film's stuntmen shared an Instagram pic (since deleted) which appears to show headshots of Sage and Jessica Chastain on a board in the background.

While far from irrefutable proof, this could be a pretty good indication that Halston Sage will indeed be playing Dazzler in X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

We'll update as soon as hear more, but for now be sure to let us know what you make of this in the usual place.

I do not understand why Dazzler would be added to the team for a movie about Dark Phoenix.

@TheUnworthyThor - because she actually was in the Phoenix saga comics?

@gambgel - I think the ship has sailed on the comic accurate adaptation of the comics, and at this point that they have so much story to tell and so much character development needed on the characters they already have to properly tell a version of the Dark Phoenix Saga that adding more X-men sounds ridiculous.

@RealLightning - You obviously have no idea who I am or what I like but hello THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE A COMIC ACCURATE VERSION OF THE DARK PHOENIX SAGA! Or did you forget that Sebastian Shaw, Emma Frost and the rest of the Hellfire Club was a enormous part of that storyline, characters already used and dead in the timeline. So again why add yet another X-men who won't get enough development?

@RealLightning - And I didn't complain about it here...

@RealLightning - I didn't complain right now about comic accurateness on this topic about a Fox movie. I bemoaned yet another X-men character being added to a story that doesn't need her and will likely have little development when there are lots of story and development is needed to get the X-men to the point they need to be at for any version of the Dark Phoenix Saga to make sense and carry the proper emotional weight.

@TheUnworthyThor - She is likely only going to be in it as a cameo (there will probably be a scene at a concert and she will be performing).

Furthermore, literally all CBMs are completely original, often only sharing a title with the orginal comic run (Age of Ultron for example).
To date the only films I feel have been "accurate" representations of their comic book runs (that is to say the structure of the film resembles the structure of the comicbook) are Civil war and DoFP.
So I'm not expecting a panel per panel retinactment of Dark Pheonix (nor do I really want it, I want to be surprised) but going cosmic they will be respecting the essence of the story)

I'm with you they shouldn't be adding to many main X-men characters (though I think Colouss could easily be added), but as I said I think Dazzler will be a cameo.
I also think all the mutants we've been hearing are returning (Toad, Tatttoo etc) will likely function as casualties when Jean turns Dark.
It be much more emotional that she kills her own people over an unknown alien race + I think her destroying a planet (while working in comics) just makes her far too overpowered for fil.

@MNLawyer - Just saying, let's see how she acts in Orville. Acting ability and range matter more than appearance. I've always said look at appearance second or even third.
