EDGE OF TOMORROW Director Doug Liman Being Courted For GAMBIT

Reports are coming in that the Gambit actor Channing Tatum is keen on Bourne Identity and Edge Of Tomorrow director Doug Liman to helm the X-Men spinoff.

Gambit hasn't had a very easy time of it so far, and the most recent blow to the production saw its director Rupert Wyatt (Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes) walk - allegedly due to clashes with the studio over the direction he wanted to take the story. Well their luck may be about to change if star and producer Channing Tatum has his way.

Deadline reports that "recent Hollywood chatter has Doug Liman on an inside track to direct Channing Tatum in Gambit," with The Wrap's Jeff Sneider chiming in with the Tweet below.

Obviously that doesn't mean he'll take the gig, but you never know. Liman's sci-fi action flick Edge Of Tomorrow was very popular indeed, so there's likely a lot of you CBMers that hope he signs on to bring the Ragin' Cajun to the screen for his first solo movie outing.

Gambit will also star Lea Seydoux and is currently scheduled to be released on October 7, 2016. Updates as we get 'em.

Well damn. How is Fox getting good directors for Gambit but Spider-Man got Watts? I liked Cop Car but at the same time I liked The Lost Boys which Joel Schumacher directed.

Wow. That'd be a huge get!

C-Tates right now...

HOWEVER, I thought Liman & Tom Cruise were working on another movie together before a potential Live.Die.Repeat.Two.

I've got a feeling that he's going to pass on the project but I'm always hopeful for the best to happen.

Gambit has a better chance of happening than Ms Marvel does.

I also say that cause I hate Ms Marvel.

Step 1a: Hire creative, knowledgable, enthusiastic, competent people to work on a badass real-reboot team movie or two to start things.

Step 1b: Do that while developing some kind of a long term plan for an ongoing X-Men movieverse with, you know, actual continuity. The sky is (not) the limit with this property.

Step 1c: Everyone should take a good, long look at these

Step 2: Profit?!

...

Step 6: Awesome Gambit solo movie (no Tatum)!

A Gambit movie... is that really necessary? Give the money to the charity or something.

Don't care, Fox is a joke when it comes to these movies, they are being left in the dust by Marvel and DC universe, there movies are made for 13 year olds, but as soon as they grow up they realise how stupid they are. The only good thing that will be coming from Fox in ten years could be Deadpool and that's only because it was made by people who give a shit.

Wait... they still want to release it October 7 of next year?

So...less than a year for finalizing the pre-production, ALL the actual production, AND post-production?

Okay, so far be it from me to judge this thing now, who know's how it'll turn out.
Some films with troubled productions have turned out great! (Looking at you Ant-man.)
And then again, some haven't... (Looking at you Fant4stic Four...)

Also, I still have zero interest in a solo Gambit movie.
Zero.
I mean, sure it has potential. Maybe it'll be good.

But...this is Fox here.

I wouldn't hold my breath. :/
