After the news that 20th Century Fox will be largely acquired by Disney, speculation is abound as to how the MCU will incorporate Fox's properties, now that they've come under the Disney banner. Disney's own Bob Iger said that the plan was for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to "expand" to include the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and Deadpool franchises, though as to how remains unclear. While Fantastic Four would almost certainly be in the form of a second reboot, the X-films remain unclear.
Iger indicated he wanted Deadpool's solo film series to continue, even mulling the possibility of an R-Rated Marvel "banner", presumably not unlike the Marvel MAX imprint of the comics, where Alias, Dominic Fortune, Punisher, and other comic titles had some, let's say, unsuitable-for-children adventures. This would presumably mean that in whatever future plans Marvel and Fox will come to, Deadpool and his crew (including two actual X-Men, Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus) would be among those certain to survive the transition. However, what of the rest of the team?
The finalization of the merger is expected to come into full effect some time between a year and a year and a half from now, which would put it well into Fox's current timeframe into 2019, which, alongside Gambit, will also feature two as-yet unannounced Fox/Marvel films. Among the many possibilities is the long-gestating X-Force, the newly announced Multiple Man film, a possible second parter to the upcoming X-Men: The Dark Phoenix. Needless to say, any concrete connections would likely not start manifesting until around then, or in 2020. This far into the already once "rebooted" timeline brought about by Days of Future Past, there seems to be very little way to incorporate the X-Men universe as-is into the MCU, at least not without some substantial continuity concerns. There are however, no clear indicators how strongly some of these spin-offs will be tied to the main films, allowing the possibility that they could be plausibly retconned into being in the MCU with little problem due to the tangential nature of the stories.
