Sources Say Cyber is Lead Villain in Wolverine 2 Sequel

Talk about turning the Wolverine movie into its own franchise is already starting, and insiders are spilling detailed information, such as, Cyber being the lead villain in Wolverine 2.

Trusted insiders have told Cinema Blend that Fox isn't waiting to see what the box office brings. They have an quasi-religious faith in X-Men Orgins: Wolverine and are banking that it is going to payoff as a franchise--focused on the berserker mutant.

Hugh Jackman has already said he be willing to take the role on as long as the fans want him to, and it looks like he'll get his chance. The unnamed source, said to have along history as a reliable scooper regarding Fox projects, told Cinema Blend that...

"Fox isn’t waiting around to see how the solo movie performs. They’re already in talks to make multiple Wolverine sequels happen, and they’re tossing around story ideas for the almost inevitable Wolverine 2. Word is that the character they’re hoping to use as the villain of Wolverine 2 is someone named Cyber. In the X-Men universe, he’s sort of like Wolverine’s equal and opposite. Like Wolverine he’s Canadian and possesses most of the same powers as Wolverine. He has an Adamantium skin, claws, mutant healing ability, and so on. The villain of the first movie, Liev Schreiber, may also be back for the sequel as Sabretooth; but if they’re bringing in Cyber then he obviously won’t be the only villain."

Also leaked was the interesting info that Fox plans to have Hugh Jackman (as Wolvie) show up in X-Men: First Class in order to launch that franchise with a bang.

Obviously we don't have to warn CBM readers to take this early spoiler with salt, but CB says its source is solid, so let the gushing begin! Stay tuned right here for the latest.

Wonder if they will hint at him in the first one since the character was Wolvie's Drill Sargent.

Cyber would make for a kick ass villain. I dig him, he's a badass, AND he can beat the tar out of wolverine. Which will make for interesting fight scenes.
I do NOT however, approve of wolverine being in X-Men: First Class, if it is TRULY the first class. Which I guess, it can't really be because they've taken that continuity out of it al together. So who's it going to be? The first graduating class? New Mutants? I wonder...

Ya I agree Ion. Wouldnt' it be funny if they used Generation X or even Gen13. Skipp decades of characters.

Wouldn't mind seeing Omega Red in the mix.

I'm not for throwing him in X-Men:First Class either. That's just too much of a whore out of Wolverine. They do it enough already and it's abusing his status in the Marvel hierarchy. If the project can't get enough excitement generated on it's own steam, then axe it or make it better.

Cyber is pretty cool, I was hoping more of a Matsu'o and the Hand with some Clan Yashida mixed in. I'm trying to picture how they're going to do Cyber, they'll have to get a pretty big dude that looks imposing beside 6'3" Jackman. Because Cyber is a character that can look as crappy as Juggernaut did, if they're not careful.

...maybe Nathan Jones? He's 6'11" and 350lbs. Dude is a monster. He was Hulk size compared to Jet Li in "Fearless".

Nice throwing in Cyber, at least it seems like they are firmiliar with all sorts of wolverine charactors.

oh man Omega Red now that would be mind blowing fight.

I hope it does happen someday were they go into his Japan history.

IonParallax - 12/5/2008, 1:41 PM
Omega Red would be an awesome addition. Maybe in Wolverine III. But, the japanese needs to come soon.

Spock - 12/5/2008, 2:36 PM
I personally don't what to go back to far, maybe no further Mr. Sinster. Naw thats a bit of a stretch! Nathan Jones would be a good one, He was also in Tony Jaa' movie. That rocked, he was huge & Tony has some great moves. Maybe he should play Iron Fist.

Oh sweet jesus jumped up christ!!!

My favorite all time villains for wolverine ARE:

Sabertooth
Cyber
Omega Red

Take the second to Japan! Make Nathan Jones as Cyber the villain!!! Then in the third, have him continue his journey to russia to face off Omega Red and reboot Colossus!!! Man that would be so cool!!!

U finally got a pic shaman, what took so long?
IonParallax
IonParallax - 12/5/2008, 4:24 PM
Shaman, dude. Sweet! Is that Lobo from Lobo vs Santa Claus? That's what it looks like. If you haven't heard of or had the chance to see it. It's on Youtube. Lobo is hired by the Easter Bunny to kill santa claus. Live action, quite humorous.

Spock, I do believe he has been doing this while at work (like myself) and either; hasn't had the time, or didn't know, or wasn't capable while at work. Something about doing it at his GF's comp. Wow, I know waaaay TMI about this guy now that I look at it...Ah well.

I've often wondered how many comic publishers, or movie studios with rights to said comics frequent these types of sites. It would definitely give them a TON of insight into;
- What fans really want
- How NOT to screw something up royally
- What can be acceptably changed without hurting the character or story, and what must ABSOLUTELY stay
- Plots, Storylines, subplots etc for the films
- Casting/Directing/Scripting choices

I think they would benefit immensely. Just my opinion of course.

BACK TO TOPIC. Yea, Cyber, cool as shit, Omega Red, Also cool, but they BETTER not make the tentacles whips or something equally retarded, and he would have to keep the Death Spores. Matsu'o and the Hand would be AWESOME, call it Wolverine: Tokyo Directive. Ok maybe that's not as cool as I thought it would sound...Oh well, they've done much worse. 1970's Hulk and Thor anyone?

I have occasionally, but it seems most posts go unanswered there. I have posted on a few, like the Iron Man thing, and a couple others. But for the most part, those thread are quite old and I think CBM should clean them out to things that have been created or replied to in the last 2 weeks or so.

I really don't know much about this Cyber character. I'd say go with OMEGA RED. And it would be pretty kick ass if they put Wolverine in the AVENGERS movie.

Well Super, here you go.

Cyber, or "Silas Burr" as he is known, is believed to have been born in Canada. He was an agent for the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, and in the spring of 1912, was eventually put on trial in Sioux City, Iowa. He was found guilty on 22 counts of murder and sentenced to death by hanging. Escaping from the courthouse, Cyber arrived at a Western Canadian military base, finding in the Canadian Army a new employer named Frederick Hudson, who took special interest in utilizing his unique ability to push the men under his command beyond their moral and emotional limits. Cyber's earliest known confrontation with Logan seemingly occurred around World War I, where he served as Logan's brutal drill instructor during his early days in the military. Cyber is given instructions to focus his attention on Logan in particular, and eventually receives orders to murder a woman at the base known only as Janet, in whom Logan was interested romantically, to further dehumanize his conditioning. After witnessing her death at Cyber's hands, Logan attacks and is severely beaten as Cyber effortlessly gouges out Logan's left eye. This is Logan's most severe beating and defeat up to this point in his life and the resulting psychological effects result in a deep-seated fear of Cyber. Without any memory of Burr's abuse, Logan again finds himself under the command of Burr while enlisted with the Devil's Brigade during World War II. He introduces Logan to U.S. Army soldier Nick Fury for the clandestine rescue mission of Captain America from German occupied Northern Africa.

Returning from Indochina for nine months in 1959, Burr would train his finest student, Logan's son, Daken, before the boy is secretly ordered to destroy the training camp and everyone associated with it, including its commandant, Hudson. Eviscerated and shot by Daken, Burr is spared from death, as he is slated to be bonded with adamantium at some point in the near future.

It has been suggested, by Cyber himself, that he once ran with the notorious Edinburgh killer, William Burke, and took part in the heinous West Port murders of 1828

Wolverine= Cash Cow... The trilogy itself was already mostly about him.. But making a prequel of him is kind of cool, but I think sequels are pointless.
They should follow up with X-Men Origens: Magneto.
Then, X-Men Origens: First Class (or something like that)- about original line up at younger age: Cyclops, Jean, Storm, Beast, + more.
IonParallax
IonParallax - 12/7/2008, 2:39 PM
I wish they would have just started from the beginning. Kept the continuity in tact and went from there. They would have actually had MORE flexibility to do sequels AND could have pulled off a prequel series with NO problems. But I do love the movies we got. They're great, and i'll probably watch all 3 today. At least 1 and 2 because I watched 3 last night.

i think using him in X-Men 1st class would be over kill for the wolverine character in general.

SPOCK!!! GREAT AVATAR MAN!!!! I lOVE X-MAN!!!!!!

As i posted a few times, i very much dig your new one ION!!!

Every X-men movie was good in their own way and anything about the prequels and sequels will be cool as well in their own way... EXCEPT for Origins: Magnetoe! That is gonna blow chunks! Why, you say? Because there is NOTHING that can be done with Charles & Eric's "wonder years" that could even come close to the coolness that X-men had or that Wolverine will have. And there are so many inconsistencies with the existing storylines that this movie will look like it's either in a parallel universe or it's a freakin unnecessary reboot!

And Wolverine will be great!!! Why, you dare ask??? Because all the X-men movies had to do with him and it KICKED ABSOLUTE ASS!!! Only the supporting characters will change so it's not that important.
Spock
Spock - 12/8/2008, 4:12 PM
Thanks Shaman, I fully agree with you I think the Magneto thing would blow! No Wonder years for me either, it would be fine for a dvd release, but full length movie no.

As for your avatar. Lobo is looking wicket--just like Ion stated earlier. Its funny I mentioned this, I was just watching Superman Animated Adv last night, Title The Main Man--staring Lobo. I actually got my wife to watch it. I was explaining his character, & she that I was crazy for liking him.. I think he is totally pyschotic, but he is cool.

my girl likes the movies, but she just wont be swayed into the cartoons. its hard for alot of people to realise how good some of them really are, when most people hear cartoon they just think tom and jerry!
SGA
SGA - 12/9/2008, 8:34 AM
I know what you mean...my ex was that way, i think that's one of the reasons she broke up w/ me. the whole "you need to grow up" thing. Just because i like cartoons doesn't mean I'm not grown. There are some that offer great entertainment and some great mental stimulation. One example would be Death Note. It has a great story premise and it offers great complex questions towards human ethics. "is it ok to kill someone? What makes it ok? If it decided to be ok, Who made that decision? What gives them the right to make that decision?"
