According to Spanish site
Frames(Fotogramas.es), actor Álex González, known for his role in
Sunday Light, has been cast in Matthew Vaughn's mutant-bundled
X-Men: First Class. The site has González, 30, listed to play a mutant whose history in the "X-Men" comics is evidently unknown.
"Alex Gonzalez has been signed for the fourth installment of the series X-Men, where he plays a Tornado, a character of great physical and mental dexterity, and for which the actor three hours daily need of characterization."
Being unknown, I've failed to find any further info, other than what the source has listed above, on the character Tornado. Therefore, you can take this with a grain of salt, or as another unruly act of 20th Century Fox. What do you think?
UPDATE: I was contacted by Álvaro Sánchez, a manager of a Spanish superhero blog, and he tells me that Alex González's role in
First Class is a mystery no more. He says González isn’t Tornado, but is actually playing Janos Quested, better known as Riptide. Sanchez also includes that the Spanish actor has spent four months in London shooting the film, and is super excited.
In case you don't know, Riptide is a mutant with the ability to spin his body at an incredibly fast rate. He also has the ability to generate calcium growth from his bones that protrude through his skin, often taking the form of shurikens and spikes. When he spins, Riptide can release these growths at will from his skin, the additional velocity that comes from his spinning making them lethal missiles that can even punch through steel.
Anyhow, while filming is underway in London, look for
X-Men: First Class in theaters July 3, next year.
