Hugh Jackman Praises The Wolverine Director; Comments On First Class Cameo!

Speaking to MTV, Hugh Jackman - best known for his role as Logan/Wolverine in the X-Men film franchise - praised the recently-selected director of his next venture as The Wolverine, James Mangold (best known for 3:10 To Yuma), saying that his take on the script 'was the strongest' of the directors who were considered. He goes on to confirm that the film will still keep the title The Wolverine, as well as saying that he 'loved' doing his infamous cameo in the latest X-film, X-Men: First Class.

On choosing James Mangold as the director of The Wolverine...

There were a number of directors who wanted to do this because we have the best script yet, but his take was the strongest. He’s phenomenal, he’s going to really knock this one out of the park.

On retaining the name after original director Darren Aronofsky left...
Darren wanted to call it The Wolverine and I want to keep that, because to me this is going to feel like The Wolverine This is the one that in 20 years time I want to say, ‘Check this out.’

On his cameo in X-Men: First Class...
I loved doing that cameo. It was the easiest line learning I’ve had.

The Wolverine is set to hit theaters sometime in 2012!

Logan's cameo was one of many better things in that movie. Waiting for 'The Wolverine' to happen :)

First Class what unexpectedly good. Its too bad Vaughn wasnt attached to X3. ANyways despite the flaws in FC i enjoyed the film. The Wolverine would please me crossing the park to R rated territory....for violence....keep the language to a min. KIds will still wanna see him let loose but parents wont wanna hear an F bomb every time someone is getting slashed.

I hope Mangold has the balls to make Hugh slightly smaller to capture wolverine's small stature.

I hope this is good. Jackman is such a nice guy and he really cares about the character. Even tho the Wolverine movie sucked it wasn't Jackman's fault he actually did a great job. I couldn't imagine any other actor playing Wolverine.

I dig the clint eastwood-esque portrayal of Logan Hugh is doing. But we have never seen The Wolverine/Weapon X in a movie, and thats really what i'd like to see.

I'd like to see the story of logan having experiments done to him, making him into a military weapon called the Wolverine, with his suit going out on missions.

Honestly i don't see how anyone could say we've seen wolverine in any movie. It's like watching a movie called "IRONMAN" and having it only be about Tony Stark.

Or a Hulk movie only about Banner.

How you have a Wolverine movie, without ever showing the wolverine, without any blood is beyond me.

I'm hoping that "The Wolverine" is great. As for his cameo: I was kinda skeptical about them giving him a cameo, at first. I thought it was like "Oh, they can't see an "X-Men" film without Wolverine being in it at all". However: my thoughts changed when I saw it. It was PERFECT in that montage sequence! It fit with the film PERFECTLY. It was PURE Wolverine. If there's any Marvel character who deserves to be the first one to drop the F bomb in a PG-13 Marvel film: it's Wolverine.

I wonder what X3 would have been like had Vaughn directed it - after all, he was directly involved with developing the script that "killed off" Cyclops/Prof X etc. If I recall correctly he wanted to "shock the fans and make them cry".

Vaughn and his writers apparently knocked out the X3 script in 6 days, and Ratner only got to make mininal changes due to time constraints.

Would Vaughn have knocked X3 out of the park regardless, or did he dodge a bullet?

I hated Hugh Jackman's cameo in X-Men First Class. Not that I don't like the Wolverine character but it seemed like a cheap insert w/o reason. They turned Wolverine into comic relief which is the total opposite of who the character is. I would've preferred if they worked him into the concentration camps as a soldier freeing the Jewish prisoners & have Eric aka Magneto be one of the prisoners he rescues. At least it would explain why Magneto looked at Logan's dog tag in X-Men 1 & then his holocaust tattoo with a pause.

@redskull I forgot what the article was about after I watched that video. Those kids are retarded. lol. It's funny to watch, but at the same time I feel bad for the kids who will be inspired to do shit like that from watching these guys. It's just a matter of time before someone dies. Anyhoo...back to "the Hughverine". No costume, no watcha you movie. Da da dickbag. Reboot please.
