Is This The End? Hugh Jackman Teases His Last Time As WOLVERINE
"Wolverine... One Last Time" - X-Men star Hugh Jackman, who has played the iconic claw-wielding mutant a record seven times, just tweeted out this fairly ominous message that could have serious implications on the future of Fox's beloved X-Men franchise. Come check it out!
Not too long ago, X-Men star Hugh Jackman let out a fairly cryptic Instagram post that could signal an end to his iconic run as the fan-favorite Wolverine, a career-defining role he has played seven times to date and is expected to reprise at least once more, possibly twice, before the end of the 2017 calendar year.

Wolverine... One Last Time?
What this truly means is anyone's guess, but if it means Jackman's time as Wolverine is really coming to a close, well then, it's certainly a sad news day for fans of Fox's wildly successful X-Men franchise.
Of course, this could all be a bit of ruse as there is no official reason why Jackman would be trying on claws right now as his next appearance as the claw-wielding mutant wasn't expected until 2017 in the highly anticipated sequel to the James Mangold-directed The Wolverine, which isn't expected to start production until early next year. The only reason he would be fitting claws right now is if he were set to appear in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, a project that is scheduled to kick off production shortly, but one he hasn't officially been confirmed for, although there have been rumblings about a potential cameo.
Could this post merely be confirmation that he'll appear in the upcoming sequel to the critically acclaimed X-Men: Days of Future Past? Or is there more to it? Jackman has had a few recent health scares, so that may be a factor in his decision to walk away, but it would still be an odd send-off for such an iconic character if X-Men: Apocalypse were to be his last appearance, a more proper goodbye would likely be better suited for the third Wolverine outing.
Also, in case you were wondering, as of March 26, Jackman was last seen in Bavaria, Germany shooting for Eddie The Eagle with Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service). The team behind X-Men: Apocalypse is across the ocean in Montreal, Canada and the team for the Ryan Reynolds-starrer Deadpool, a project in which Jackman expressed some desire to appear in, is out in Vancouver, Canada. Additionally, outside of Wolverine 3, Jackman also has The Greatest Showman On Earth on his upcoming shooting slate.
There's a lot we know, but there's still a lot we don't. Many actors, Robet Downey Jr. (Iron Man) for example, have said before that the next film would be their last, but as we all know, studios have found ways to bring back their biggest talents and besides, could Fox really afford to lose both Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence within a year of each other?
