Wolverine Sequel Start Date Pushed Back?

Recent reports suggest that due to filming location problems, the start date for James Mangold's Wolverine sequel may have been pushed back as late as next year. Check it out!

Despite the star, Huge Jackman, suggesting last week that principal photography would begin mid-October, the infamous Deadline is reporting that the start date for Fox and James Mangold's Wolverine sequel may be pushed back to next year's Spring. The site explains:

The studio says it never officially [had a start date for] the sequel. But now that may push back to Spring 2012. The screenplay mostly takes place in Japan. But studio insiders tell us it’s hard finding just where to shoot in Japan these days because of weather-related considerations. Now the location might switch to Canada. But we’re also hearing that the start date will wait until after Jackman finishes making Les Miserables. There’s no question that 20th Century Fox wants the pic badly and has been trying to get its sequel to the X-Men spinoff rolling for quite awhile now.

The Wolverine, under James Mangold's direction, brings back Hugh Jackman as 'Logan/ Wolverine,' taking on the Silver Samurai. And with actress Naturi Naughton rumored for 'Cecilia Reyes,' as of now, the story follows Logan being lured to Japan to learn who he is and where he came from. And Fox has yet to announce a release date for the much-anticipated sequel.

I would rather like to see a FC sequel, forget Origins ever happen and treat this as a new X-men universe separated from X1,X2,X3 and Origins.

Better hurry up - Wolverine might not age like the rest of us, but Hugh Jackman does....

It's like the new Spiderman - We've got a Peter Parker 10 years older than he should be, and an Aunt May 10 years younger than she should be. (Who better to play Uncle Ben than Martin Sheen though?)

[frick] Hugh Jackman... Delay it until he is too old to play Wolverine. I am tired of seeing him overact his way through every movie

I don't want then to necessarily rush the project but they ought to get this one done soon. Otherwise I say (with all due respect to Mr. Jackman) we should probably get a new guy to helm any more Wolverine flicks. Someone a bit shorter and stockier. Jackman's Wolverine is about as tall as Captain America... That's not right!

If this movie doesn't have 'X-Force' style violence were limbs, heads, guts, brains and whatever else would ACTUALLY go flying if Wolverine's adamantium ripped into someone- sorry ,but this movie's gonna be more of the same.Just ONCE I'd like to see a movie studio have the balls and depict Wolverine doing 'what he does best' realistically! I'm so sick of this PG-13 Wolverine bullcrap!

@pro3ctor- Dude when I was a kid the movies were rated 'G','PG','R' and 'X'. So if you weren't going to see a Disney movie, or a porno, you were going to an'R' or 'PG'. Hell even in Star Wars :A new Hope , Obi Wan light sabered Walrus faces' arm in the cantina off and it drops to the floor in a bloody pool, and that was 'PG'. 'R's not a bad thing. My Pop's took me and my brother's to 'R's and it was no big deal,ya know? Let Wolverine do his thing!!!

Ya know what, lets just give Wolverine a cooking show. He can use those handy retractable claws to slice and dice his way to culinary delight.Or maybe give him a reality show about the rugged life of a lumberjack in the Canadian Northwest using his claws as a chainsaw.Or maybe he can get a show showcasing his incredible skills at ice carving! I wanna see Wolverine go 'Kill Bill' on every fricken' punk who stands in his way from getting whatever he's got on his mind ...AND I wanna see him go BERSERKER!!!!! GIVE ME THE REAL WOLVERINE-!!!FOX!!!

Oh, come on.The whole reason Aronofsky dropped out(or at least the reason we were given) is because he was unwilling to spend that much time away from his family while filming in Japan. Now there's a possibility that they aren't even filming there, but may stay over here and have Canada double as Japan?

They should have just did that in the first place in order to keep Aronofsky. In this day and age where you can digitally make any geography look like anything in the world or even with practical set pieces, you could easily turn Canada into Japan.Sure, authenticity is cool, but not at the loss of a director who got everyone excited. And not when it can easily be done somewhere closer to home.

I thought the reason for Aronofsky dropping out was he had to stay and deal with the custody battle against Rachel Weiz?

If that's the case...damn I hope this movie gets psuhed back so much that Aronofsky's available again. Wishful thinking, I know.

Totally agree on the necessity of showing wolverine really slicing and dicing his way through hords of ninja's in the Japan saga. They need an R-rating,it shouldnt be a huge deal with the studio as far as the impact on grosses, because a wolverine movie doesnt need a gigantic budget. I was sad to hear of the loss of Aranofsky, he is easily one of the top 5 directors out there right now. Then they replace him with mangold?! What?! You've gotta be sh&&^%*& me.I hope that by pushing back the production start date they get a chance to re-evaluate their choice of directors. I'm also a go for a wolverine costume that is closer to the comics version, all the other current comic movies are using (updated)classic costumes. As long as they minimize and tone down the yellow portions it should be all good.

For christs sake Hugh let it go!! Your a great guy and played a good watered down Wolverine but with the way CBM's have grown in the last decade you are now too nice, too old and too stubborn to do what's best for the character. Your passion is most admirable but it's not enough, Origins is proof enough of that.
