First Wolverine Pic of 2009!

Logan seems to shout, "Happy new year!" as he rises from the tub in this pic!

By ComicBookMovie - Jan 02, 2009 09:01 AM EST
Source: AICN

Thank to the folk at AICN for snagging the pic from Entertainment Weekly...

Although they also add fuel to the fire that the Woverine movie may NOT be the one fans want to place bets upon this year--brining up again those pesky "problems with the production" rumors...

These rumors have been roundly denied by the studio and producers, but are they going to say? "Yes, this $100 million tent pole movie is in trouble." I don't think so. If it was one isolated report or rumor then we could ignore it as bullshit, but there have been many off-the-record reports from people working in, on and around the production. Make no mistake, whatever the end result is WOLVERINE was a very troubled production.

Hmmmm... I wonder how this would look in 'bootleg'? "WATCHMEN UNITE!!!!" - Hear that Fox? That's the sound of your profits from this film slipping away... SETTLE NOW!!!!!

Anyone with artistic vision always seems to butt heads with FOX suits. One thing that has been echoed for years in the directing circle is that FOX is difficult to work with.

Anyway, it looks entertaining enough. Maybe Hood is having as much trouble as Donner did when he did Superman II. Let's hope that at the end of the day it's Gavin Hood's version that is seen and not FOX's lunchbox and pajama friendly one.

the shot is not good... i think this is the incorrect frame to take the pic they should have let pass few more frames... his arms seems to shrink in this pic and very unimpressive like grif said

It's cool, but is a little disproportioned. Either way, it's freakin' Wolverine and no matter how crappy the frame is, it's freakin' sweet. As for this movie, it's going to rock. I don't really give a damn what anyone says. It's going to be sweet.

Happy New Year folks, and nice change (again) Ror. Is that like, you and your lady-friend?

It's an ORIGINS movie you TWIT! Where else would it take place BUT the past? The X-Men aren't in it. Gambit, Deadpool, Sabretooth, The Blob, Maverick and Kestrel are in it. YOUNG Scott Summers makes an appearance, as does a young Emma Frost and Sean Cassidy. Besides this movie covers well over a CENTURY of history. Not just one specific time period.

You're one of THOSE people huh? The whole costume thing is such an ignorant reason NOT to like a movie. They had Uniforms on that weren't just street clothes, but were more in line with the New X-Men, when they gave up the retarded costumes because they were used to HIDE their identities. Since that isn't the case anymore, THEY DIDN'T NEED TO WEAR COSTUMES. Geez. The characters in GI Joe don't have on their outfits, save for Snake Eyes. But I see you sucking the cock of that movie up and down Main St.

So is it just that you don't like X-Men movies, or you have a case of permanent morning wood for GI Joe? So, as I have said so many times, to so many people.

Get the sand out of your vagina.

Well, Ror, I will be checking out said pic and picture gallery ASAP.

I wasn't aware this was a tent-pole type movie...I thought the X Trilogy was the tent pole to which all other X based films got their start...Are they refering to it as a tentpole for future Origins movies...?

On another note, why in the HELL wouldn't they do a Charles Xavier origins first (second) as opposed to Magneto? Granted, Magneto is cool as can be, BUT, Charles is so much cooler...IMO
IonParallax
IonParallax - 1/2/2009, 3:31 PM
I am basing that level of coolness on the fact that I never saw Magneto put a gun to his own head and tell whoever (Cassandra Nova) was f-in' around in there he will fire if they don't vacate...That was badass.

Yea yea, everyone wants to say Charles is this big goody 2 shoes, which is how he WAS portrayed for so long...Because nobody caught the underlying treachery he was performing...He's a control freak, liar, manipulator on the GRANDEST scale, he's got an evil twin who he attempted to murder; IN THE WOMB none the less. His psyche is so powerful that it released a physical manifestation of his darker side onto the masses as Onslaught. One of the most badass villains ever. He sired a son who became one of the most powerful and psychotic mutants ever seen (Legion) who KILLS his father. He is also in possesion of the Xavier Protocols...Which details how to kill the most powerful mutants around...Including himself...So, I think his would make a MUCH better story than Magneto's. PLUS, Magneto would be in it...

ION -

Dude, great rip of LOGANX. I seriously laughed out (very) loud at a very inappropriate time at work! Mad Funny! And yea, it is just a pic, the thing thats got me worried are the re-shoots and bad press the production team is getting. We can all tell this wasn't the best frame for them to use, but there is no need to whine about it.

Up and down Main St..........LMAO!!!!

I guess I dont see whats wrong with this pic? I think that most of the comic geeks should be banned from seeing anything about a movie until they go to the theatre because most of you just complain anyway. Seriously most of you remind me of the 2 old guys from the muppet show, except they were funny, and most of you are not except IonParallax, I too laughed out loud. If everything about comic book movies piss you all off then stop watching them. Also go tell your mothers that they are miserable failures at raising all you whiny bitches.
IonParallax
IonParallax - 1/2/2009, 4:26 PM
(bows) I'm glad I could make your moments at work all that much more entertaining. Or unnerving, depending on where you work.

Agrred about showing most fans pics of anything, they get so irate about stuff (not that I haven't) but most of the time all I ever here from these "true fans" is wah wah wah. Geezus Kryste get over it. I even heard someone say that they have the right to complain because as a fan it is "their" property...Like seriously? If that's the case, where's my royalties check. I'm a fan and have been for over 20 years. I was freakin' born to be a comics book fan, and that's how I came out.

I estimate that for oh, the almost 27 yrs i've been alive, i've probably amassed well over a billion dollars in royalties...IF being a "true fan" makes me entitled to these properties. Because I need that money...seriously, there's tons of things I could pay off, then donate hundreds of millions too. Because let's face it, I don't need a billion dollars.

But really, for someone to say they have the right to bitch, moan and complain about every little detail because they're a fan is absolutely ridiculous...I think it was in the Letter Writing Campaign article. Not quite sure though.

Again, thanks for finding that remark amusing...I thought it was pretty funny too. (bows)

Hey Ion and Ror ... get a room fer Chrissakes! Dude if G.I. Joe doesnt suck i and so many others will be the worst judge of future films of All times! But who cares cuz it aint even a real thing. The best thing about GiJoe was that every character was a complete individual. The best things about Transformers was that they were robots that could be vehicles. Transformers worked . The Joes lack any real discernment making them just another boring soldier with a flashy name. I would rather watch TopGun. Which was a good movie cuz the characters had individual personality. J.G.L is a lame choice no doubt. Oh and all comic book movies are great even the awful Capt. American movie would be great if i was 5 again i would love to see it! Wolvie should be good fun, the costumes could work if you create the right reality... hence the Lord of the Rings. I want a wolvie movie that has that type o feel. Lisen folk, this movie is shit cuz its no fun and too cool. I hate Batman TDK cuz it is soooooo grounded in reality! That being said ... as BatMan is the Greatest thing to happen to me besides painting, women , snowboarding, and my dog i will watch Batman TDK tonight for my blasphemy. amen

oops ... i suck big baslls fer this one! hah!!! i tought i was writing on the crapppy version of the MARS slash cobra soldiers. anyhoo that movie had sooooooo much potential . i am sad most of all cuz of Storm Shadow. I bought him in his 1st edition withjust over 500 hundred pennies that i saved. He was the last on the shelf. I really dont care who rerights a ninja story. Ninjas that wear street clothes are just trained dogs

Horrible, horrible picture. And it's not like we didn't see it in the trailer already.

I still think that the movie itself will be grea, looking forward to it.

i'M GOING TO GIVE THIS MOVIE A CHANCE.... A CHANCE! I don't think its going to be what all of us hoped it would be at first. Maybe they'll add the blood coming from the claws in post production... i don't know. Interested in seeing Gambit, and the casting for Deadpool was spot on, so I think it will be entertaining. I think the Bots will run the big screen this year, with the hopes that Watchmen will be released and prove me wrong...
IonParallax
IonParallax - 1/3/2009, 10:28 AM
I think this one has a much better chance of surviving the year unscathed compared to other things that are coming out this year. Even if the Watchmen is a cool flick that stays as close to the source as possible, it's going to get shyte on no matter what. Whether it's good or not, fanboys will clamour to find everything they possibly can wrong with the flick; "The Silk Spectre II is wearing Kaepa's instead of Reeboks. That is just unacceptable!"
"Ozymandias should be able to bend over backwards on his own accord without the need for wire tactics. He should be able to do a triple lutz with no assistance at all. This is garbage." It's going to be crap like that for The Watchmen, regardless of how good the final product actually is.

Fanboys will be on a tyrade when it hits. As they will with GI Joe, Wolverine, Astro Boy, Transformers and anything else that's coming from this medium.

If the movie is bad because it's a badly done movie. Fine. If it sucks because the acting is terrible, and the script is full of holes, the plot doesn't make sense etc, fine. I can live with that. But if someone says the movie sucks because theres NO FREAKING SQUID IN IT!!!!! Then blow it out your ass. Transformers was awesome and his name was SAM not Spike. Bumblebee was a badass Camaro, not a Beetle...AND do you know WHY Bumblebee was NOT a Beetle? The same reason the toy hasn't been one for over a decade. VW will not lend it's vehicle images to a toy line, cartoon or movie about "Robots who make war." SO HA! Blame VW!
version4
version4 - 1/3/2009, 12:58 PM
You're right, ion... fanboys will tear it apart just for the sake of tearing it apart. Neverming the script or the casting. How many fanboys tore Transformers a new arsehole before it was released? The only reason TDK was treated as harshly before it premiered was because of Ledger, but no time was wasted ripping Iron Man to shreds. its the nature of the beast, i guess.

shibazz - 1/3/2009, 1:29 PM
Actually thats Drunken Inane Babbling to you sir..... and spot on at that! But back to the point, is that Emma Frost as a brunette? If that is the case i would be really bothered by that as a "fanboy" and a person of the arts. My point is this. WE all know that their are preconceptions which help to sell ideas. The idea of a woman who's name is frost and made of diamond inspires our mind to think cold and hard. Blonde hair , blue eyes and a bitch of an attitude. A lot of people think of Blonde and blue eyed when they think of IceLandic women. It doesn't matter if Emma is from that area cuz her name and powers imply a certain visual no matter how stereeo typical that may be. I mean 90 percent of all comic heroes or villians are out stereo typical beliefs of these types of people. My point is this, i don't think it is just typical fanboy bitching that would rather have our loved characters portrayed as we would have them.... for me it is the desire to become fully immersed in the movie the story and the character development so that i can believe for a couple hours without regret that these magical and mysterious realms with incredible people living up to their namesakes actually exists. That is why comics work so well. So i would prefer that Me ICeQueens have blonde hair and cold blue eyes. Brown is just so warm. My luck that is not emma Frost. whoa , i need a drink and a poodle to help me finish this painting. And you know what i meant about that "get a room' ... that little love fest was gettin a little hot and heavy. Seriously though Happy New Years all!!! and if any of you are ever in Sacramento, hit me up and lets go snowboarding

MarkCassidy - 1/3/2009, 2:11 PM

version4
version4 - 1/4/2009, 12:00 PM
shibazz, I don't think the Emma Frost thing is typical fanboy bitching... i think thats a totally valid point. This is how I sort between the two... when ion was talking about transformers, he was refering to the way some fanboys ripped it after it was explained WHY Prime was a Peterbuilt instead of an over-cab. The modifications to TF were done to make the film more realistic and understandable to the public and to physicists everywhere!

Now the Emma Frost thing is just dumb on the studios part if she's a brunette, so fanboys have a right to be livid at it. Why? because it means that someone neglected to read the source material... its not hard to die hair... its hard to make an over-cab a 30 foot robot.
IonParallax
IonParallax - 1/4/2009, 3:00 PM
Thanks Version. ROR, I guess that means we're a couple now. You have to let go of the hottie on your arm and "come to Butthead" apparently.

As for Emma, she's blonde. I do believe the shot of her turning into diamond and stopping the bullets or whatever, she's a blonde. So I don't think we should have to worry about the whole brunette thing. Of all the crazy things FOX does to X-Men movies, I actually have some faith that she's a blonde. Because well, she was blonde in that bootleg preview from the SDCC.

Things change people, from artist to artist, writer to writer, things don't always stay the same. ESPECIALLY in the comics world, where someone can be a benevolent do-gooder one issue, and the despotic ruler of the 30th century the next. THEN a time warping being of almost pure malevolence the next. Nothing ever remains unchanged, that's why the majority of comics are so interesting. The ever-changing, ever-evolving cycle of life in the comics world. If it weren't for change we'd still see Hank McCoy as a troglodytic hairy dude with huge hands and feet. Thunderbird would still be stomping around with the X-Men and Banshee would have never died trying to save a plane full of civilians. The bus at the X-Mansion wouldn't have been blown up and nobody would know who/what the hell the Anti-Monitor is. It is those changes that keep things fresh, new ideas, new styles, new stories. It's what it's all about.
shibazz
shibazz - 1/4/2009, 7:12 PM
Thanks Version for answering the question. I am a little sadder now, and according to Ion's comment i guess i will have to get used to the idea of Dead Pool being as fetching as Ryan Seacrest for the whole movie... come on really??? I understand changing Superman to a black suit in the Death of Superman series. The printed comics can take risks and should. Hell they come out monthly and there are multiple titles of each character. Spectacular, Incredible, Amazing, Unlimited and so on. The movies are another case though. Honsetly imagine for a second that The Directors and producers of the Lord of The Rings took the types of Liberties with Gandolph or Frodo that will be taken with Saberttooth . Also what bothers me most with Sabertooth is that when he scratches the happy face into the table .... its a FU@$ING perfect circle!!!! Is he freakin Michelangelo?!?
