How the Wolverine Movie is Setting up a Deadpool Movie

What I've heard about the story arc of Deadpool, from a reasonably reliable source, which will start a new franchise...

Ryan Reynolds was not lying in his most recent interview with MTV and some had thought this was an opportunity to drum up interest in the role by creating controversy, but there is truth to what he says, also he is not revealing everything.

Wade Wilson does become Weapon XI, this is basically confirmed with Ryan Reynolds, but what he does not say is that there is footage after the end scene in the trailers that has yet to be talked about.

There have been 2 speculations as far as what happens in the movie and how it plays out

Spoiler Alert! If you want to be spoiled do not read further

In the movie:
- Reynolds plays Wade Wilson the eternal smartass to the point there is conflict with the team and plays him very true to the character.
- Wilson clashes with both Logan and Sabertooth who already do not like the guy let alone each other.
- Wade Wilson is made into the Weapon XI mutant drawing abilities from Strykers crazy lab and testing, to make Wilson into a mutant to kill mutants, kind of like a Stryker bounty hunter toy. Fight fire with fire.
- Wilson is rushed out of his Weapon XI process after Wolverine frees the other mutants held captive by Stryker for experiments and the 2 fight it out in grand fashion. Wolverine wins with help from Sabertooth who wants to be the one ot kill Wolverine, Weapon XI is sent headless down into a nuke reactor.

What some have said is there is a scene after the credits, which there undoubtedly is. This is where there are 2 speculations and one I have learned is more possible.

Wilson badly damaged from the fight almost Darth Vader-like is "rescued" by a certain scientist from the Stryker lab and the rest is how this will tie into a brand new Marvel movie that will be announced in early summer of Deadpool for a release in possibly summer 2011.

This is not very far off his origin since he did volunteer for the second Weapon X program which did alter his physique and does not in fact get his name DeadPool until he is in Dr.Killebrew's workshop where he takes on the name. The movie will go from the poiont he hits the "workshop" and have flashbacks of what made him Wade Wilson.

Upon hearing this today, I immediately took all comic movie interest and and seriously looking forward to this movie, I urge all naysayers to see the movie and judge for yourselves.

If this is true, which it sounds completely possible, it is slightly more disappointing than I had originally thought. The decapitation is what has me worried most, followed by Sabertooth 'helping' Wolverine kill Weapon XI. I had originally heard that Weapon XI was sent armless into the reactor coolant tower, which made much more sense in regards to resurrecting Wade, especially to unfamiliar viewing audiences. I may be able to accept mortal enemies aiding each other as it was early in the 2 characters divide. This was during a time when they were fighting alongside each other in the comics. I'll have to wait to see how it's portrayed.

As for our post-credits teaser, I think that slot is wasted on this. It would be more fitting as the pre-credits closer, save the post-credit scene for something more X-Men or Wolverine related. I'm sticking to my guns, Mr. Sinister will be there somewhere.

idk i think alot of ppl will be upset by that but it sounds like that is totally possible considering it's fox lol

I hope your right myth. This is a good spot where Fox could "change" the story to where they keep the workshop and substitute killbrew for windsor. That way they can introduce a new "villian". Now that is an acceptable "alteration".

Magneto - 3 movies
Stryker - 2 movies
Other - 0 movies

I think it is time to move on and search a new avenue. I really think the problem is that the movie companies feel that if they do not use the most popular protaganist and antagonist, then the "general" audience will not recognize the characters, and no one will go see it.

I would love to see a Deadpool spin off and some how it ties in with the Marvel movie universe that is being made not avengers but maybe if everyone knows that all of these characters r in the same universe then marvel can make a big bad ass movie ...... but that wont happen lol

How literal can you be? Obviously the quote was supposed to indicate that Wolverine doesn't know how to kill Sabertooth, not that in the end Sabertooth will be headless. It's supposed to heighten anticipation about the fights, not act as a total plot spoiler!

what's wrong with deadpool getting decapitated and then coming back. i mean seriously the guy gets cut up, blew up, shot up, and overall [frick]ed up all the time. My conflict is with making him some kind of supervillain, but a want to become normal again may make for a good spin- off seeing as for a while in the comics he wanted to become sane and phsically normal again. i think people need to relax and just see the movie. it seems like an overall pattern on the site for people to find one thing they may not like and run with it without even seeing the movie.

Guys i dont buy a word of this..its the same crap from the last "Spoiler". This movie has not even finished post production so there is no way ANY member of the public has seen it yet, there have been no screenings. Its just a bunch of impatient fans piecing together the trailers to come up with a likely outcome..which isnt even that likely! I asked that other dude who said he new what happened a bunch of questions which he couldnt answer. Its bullshit

I'm not mad at all. At least there's a set up for another movie. Remember it's not Deadpools movie ppl it's all about Wolverine. Of course most of you have forgotten that already.

I'm not really concerned with anything that's going to happen in this movie. Whether or not Wade gets decapitated or not, I'm still going to see the movie. I just want Gambit to have a cajun accent.

ReddHotPoker - 3/21/2009, 8:23 AM
I was reading Deadpool's bio on wikipedia (not the most accurate, i know) but according to it, Deadpool was decapitated once in the comics and his head regenerated. So the whole "getting decapitated and thrown into a reactor" might actually be based on the comics after all.

I"m not that mad...it's insane that they had to change his story, but...if it leads to him being his good ol' self, then I"m fine with it. If it leads to a Deadpool spinoff, then awesome...and as far as Sabertooth helping Wolverine...it makes sense, Sabertooth doesn't want his long time enemy to be killed off by some freak show...Sabertooth is sadistic enough to want to do it himself...that makes sense as to why he'd kill off the freakshow and later get the chance to kill Wolverine himself

If anything we shouldn't see the costume until the spinoff in it's full glory, Deadpool is obviously going to have his own movie and from what i've heard this morning is that Gambit shouldn't be far behind.

Not everything i have is guaranteed since there could have been changes but my source tells me that outside of Kickass, this is going to be a big, awesome movie. The studio could have changed some items but from what i can see is why would they.

I dont give a f' whether these movie superheroes got costumes or not.. or whether they got the same skin color as the comic book versions. What i want intact is their character, personality and powers and although im a HUGE HUUUUGGEE fan of Wolverine, i hate what they are gonna do with Deadpool in this movie.

Give him powers like Mimic? WTF would the scientists choose him of all people? i bet there's no good reason or they're gonna make new powers for Wade. Hate when they do that.

Rorschach01 it's barely a month away, If you're going by IMDB standards then i suggest you learn the processes of film-making. I never said the movie was 'publicly screened' but there have been studio screenings (without watching the film repeatedly they cannot fix errors or edit it properly). Having not finished post-production on IMDB is one thing, but being close to a month away from release, if anything they are taking info in to do some last minute splices, this movie is finished outside of any last minute changes they want to make adding stems, changes, sound mixes and CGI they need to complete it.
Having said that, no it's not in pre-distribution because alot of films do not actually ship until days before they are to be screened to limit the amount of pirating copies being made and it has happened.
The finished Screening is probably 2 weeks away from testing at this point.
By the way Roschach01.......Monsters vs. ALiens is listed as being in Post-Production and well it releases in a week, so i guess by that line of thinking they are going to be late late late.

JamesH: Deadpool has fighting skills and he volunteered to be in the program coming from a military/merc background...he also at this point would have a highly increased healing factor and from the comic would at this point have terminal cancer.
ManOfIron
ManOfIron - 3/21/2009, 12:42 PM
well i don't know that much about deadpool but from what i hear is he has scars all over and that's why he wears the mask and suit. That being said, as a mainstream audience member, i would think that if he got decapitated ("head cut AWF!") then he would grow a new head... w/out scars. if they do chop off the dome and then still give him scars, that wouldn't make since

"Wilson badly damaged from the fight almost Darth Vader-like is "rescued" by a certain scientist from the Stryker lab"

If this is true then it HAS to be Sinister who pieces him back together. This ties in with Deadpools origin and gives a credible reason for loosing the cyclops laser eyes. Sinister would probably remove this power as we all know it's the only thing that can hurt him and he won't want his new toy turning on him.

For me, the shock of this Deadpool story arc has worn off. At first my world seemed to fall through my arse but now I honestly believe they can make it work if done right. It's a fine line they're walking but let's just see the film before we judge it.

I already know all of Deadpools capabilities and powers. What im asking is why of all the Department H test subjects why give mimic-like powers to Wade Wilson? Nothing in his original powers would lead to that. They'll probably pull off another Callisto and give him new powers for him to be chosen.

Hope im wrong and there's a different reason behind it.

IN THE END OIF WOLVERINE = DEADPOOL SPIN OFF.
