Marvel keeps upping the ante. Only the hardcore comic book geeks are really going to be upset at the handling of Deadpool and others. Remember folks, only a small portion of the audience seeing these movies have followed all of the characters involved!

Wolverine opens with a somewhat confusing segment on the brothers grim. My question immediately was "when did their immortality kick in?" How did they grow up and then suddenly hold at that age? Anyway, beyond that, the movie instantly went into high Marvel gear. I thought the action was spot on, the sound effects gave me a ringing in my ears that lasted until the excederin kicked in, and I was left going "WOW" until the final credits quit.

GO SEE this movie. It's classic Marvel. Humor, action, sorrow, action, and more action. It's got it all.

ya but marvel (the studio/comics) had nothing to do with this film. fox just owns the rights to wolverine. If marvel made it, it would not have sucked.

finally a review that just does not tell you not to go and see it. some reviews on other posts tells u it belongs on the RAZZIES awards show. there will be more fox/wolverine/x men movies. im not saying they will be good. Comic movies are Adaptions of the comic.

YEAH lol if it wasn't for us FANS past and present there wouldn't be no WOLVERINE and no film but hey we don't matter! Just PI$$ on the FANS abit more lmao!!! Hey HOLLYWOOD can get away with it all, so don't go crying when they mess up more comic book movies and hey ROBOCOP, PREDATOR, THE CROW etc are next, and after that who knows?? Maybe another Reboots of LOTRs and STAR WARS it endless!!! Stuff like WOLVERINE should stop now!!! You can make a excellent film without PI$$ING on everyone, an not going by the book, hence stuff like TDK!!! ; )

i liked the movie. probably cause the only edumacation i had on wolverine is from what happend in the 90's cartoon. If the movie was so bad then why would you go see it. Isn't going to a movie, practically giving support to that movie i didn't go see catwoman cause i knew it was going to be crap, didn't go see street fighter chun-li cause i thought it might be crap(still haven't heard much feedback on it though), nor DBZ cause for the obvious above reasons.

Seriously sometime you can really tell that a movie might not be as good as it should, i'm thinking bout not seeing terminator now since they took away its "R" rating(that's practically a corporate decision to mess with a beloved franchise). And now, for the next week or so, i'll have to decide rather or not i will pay over 7 dollars just to go see it. Oh and P.S. star trek looks really good, i have no doubt at all that it will be, the summer's biggest block buster....2nd to Transformer's ofcoarse (=

Last time I checked Marvel studios has 2 movies under its belt. 1 directed by Jon Favs the other Leterrier.

The rest were CO-PRODUCED. This includes Blade to Wolverine.

Sorry, still having full artistic control doesn't mean the movie is going to be good.....

RORSHCH @ I never said i like MUTANT CHRONICLES more than WOLVERINE??? CHRONICLES was a okay to good sci fi movie but im not that bothered about it compared to one of my All Time Favorite MARVEL Characters!!!??? Same goes with Punisher, another Fav of mine!!! Im sorry should i just bend over like you guys an say hey basically all they used was the names and the places, but its a WOLVERINE movie by name only, its okay?? ,,, IF ANYONE DIDN'T COME OUTTA THAT CINEMA AND THINK HOLY CRAP OR WTF???? They really don't give a damn about this character!!! Yes, most movies change little things and you have to accept it but WOLVERINE was completely changed from start to finish and not even in a good or clever way!!! Like ive said a 5 year old wrote it and probably at kindergarden!!! : D ... OMG it was lameeeee as hell, it was a like a stupid SOAP!!! Don't you guys know if you ACCEPT this it just a GREEN LIGHT for HOLLYWOOD to do it again an again!!!??? You wait till they get there hands on something that you have passion for and a favourite of yours!!! Sorry guys but this and PUNISHER are two of my favorite characters in the Marvel Universe and i was waiting a year or so when they went into production and was excited as hell to see 'em, like alot of you!!! Hey i never said it was an amazing movie either, but aside from Deadpool, it took no more liberties with the story than any of the X Men, or a better example would be Nolans Batman movies. Trained by Rahs Al Ghul? Joker wears make up? Two Face killed an hour or so after hes born? Commish Gordens wife is Barbara and not his daughter?(Batgirl)..i could go on..but those movies are universally loved and praised by the fan community despite those changes. If you want to give out about the shitty script and special effects of Wolverine then knock yourself out but for the love of god, please just get over the alterations that these movies make or stop going to see them, because iv got news for ya, its never going to stop!

Also, i see your a Smallville fan! How can you support that and not Wolverine? Never has source material been repeatedly ass raped, murdered and dumped in a ditch than with Smallville. Now maybe your not as big a fan of Supes as you are or Wolvie but your principals should remain the same right? You cant blast one thing for something and embrace another that actually does that one thing worse! In for a penny, in for a pound;)

Yeah but @ RORSCH @ It should've been an AMAZING movie!!! And as for X-MEN back then, who cared, anything was better than what killed the comic book movie (BATMAN&ROBIN), like i said the bars been raised an WOLVERINE was too RUSHED an Watered down!!! An your right, it wont change an its a damn pity but hopefully we'll get our lil gems like WATCHMEN etc! Oh well.... peace.

Hey man i would love nothing more for these movies to respect the comics more..but at the same time, as long as the essence of the characters is in tact, im not too bothered..its an adaptation after all, we still have our beloved comics! A bad script and acting bothers me more..which Wolverine did have in parts, but Jackman and Shcreiber were just to awesome for me not to enjoy it!

Yep SMALLVILLE has been all that an more but its a weekly tv show, id rather watch that than GILMORE GIRLS and i don't pay ten dollars to watch it either! I only like it now for the DC Characters, it used to be a good written show oh well lol! SMALLVILLE DC how many different origins have they got an worlds its the norm nowadays for them, but do we wan't to see MARVEL end that way??? Hell no, MARVELS still a baby company compaired to DC that been out since the late thirties! Id rather they let CLARK fly off lol an have it a GREEN ARROW show!!! An no i don't like alot of what they do in SMALLVILLE but i ain't waiting years to see it on the Big Screen like WOLVERINE! "I-hate-to-break-it-to-you" but the fact remains; Hulk contains the same [frick]ing issues as every other god damn comic movie, specifically with the "wolverine" soap box you've been standing on.

So, genius, tell me what you would have done to make the movie "awesome" instead of bitching at how terrible it is? I will sit with bated breath waiting the response.

Yes it should be exactly like all 4000 plus comic books, that NEVER need to wrap up , go on forever and ever and some how make sense in 90-100 minutes.. DER... ENJOY a movie as a movie , Enjoy a Comic as a Comic..

Ok.. here's my take on how to make this flick awesome and not suck:

1. Dont rely on cheap antics like Fedora hats, one liners, Man vs helicopter scene (which was cool and acceptable though) but delve on the plot more.

2. Wolverine is a dark character. Dont give him a Spiderman treatment... give him a TDK one.

3. Less plotholes/stupid mistakes wouldve been better. And here are some:
a. Wolverine smelled Sabertooth from far away but couldnt distinguish an animal's blood from Silverfox on his hands.
b. Adamantium bullets made wolverine lose memory (wtf?)
c. Wolverine didnt check for wounds on Silverfox.. he didnt even bury her
d. Deadpool needs typewritten commands like Decapitate but teleports, backflips and throws eye beams on his own?
e. Gambit has superstrength and superjump (come again?)

4. Respect the characters and the creators more the way TDK, Batman Begins, Inc Hulk and Ironman did.

5. Focus more with important scenes like the death of Silverfox rather than spend em on a boxing match with the blob.

6. Give emphasis on imporatant characters and give em more airtime rather than fill the whole film with useless boring cameos that dont help the film

The plot holes were my only beef. Good list, but really, all are forgivable, less some of the points made in plot holes.

But in response to your plot concerns:

3a) agreed
3b) Maybe wolverines healing factor is limited to physical damage. Replacement of memory not so much. The bullets would have made a goo out of his grey matter.
3c) moot
3d) I was confused at the commands at first, but he wasn't a puppet. He was sentient. The command lines were instilled in the event he would disobey?
3e) I had this same :wtf:

My additions:
1. Silverfox calling out to Logan after the collapse. How the hell did she get there?
2. The scene in the Bathroom at the old couples house. logan playing with his claws. Tacky.
3. Gambit appearing in the end, plane landed. why the hell did he not just land that thing to begin with (yeah it was dark, but who cares) instead of logan jumping out?

All in all, it was good movie.

If you want to compare with other comic based movies: It wasn't disappointing like Spiderman 3, X3, Daredevil, Electra, Catwoman, etc etc etc etc etc.

Compare it to other action movies: on par. Or shall we stick fingers into plot holes in kick ass movies like Terminator, Predator, Bond and their ilk.

Whats the point,,, we could rant and rave about this till the cows come home!!! The bottom line is, the movie was only half as good as what it should've been! Anyway, im WOLVERINE RAGED OUT!!! Heh heh : D ... I just hope they make a better one!! P.s. you make no sense @ sonny @ ??? How is there 4000 plus comics in WOLVERINES origin??!! Just the basic's would've been nice! ; )

"First they are bross. then wolvie fights blob in boxing, then then then deadpool wolverine and spbertooth fight on a big building, then they fall and so on and on and on" please someone break down the plot like a five year old would cuz i gotta paint but i would love to read it later.

I'm with LEEE777 on this one, but I agree with Ror, that the most important thing is the basic character of the roles. I thought they did a good job building a pre-weapon X relationship between wolvie and Sabertooth. Both actors took the roles seriously & did a good job.

This movie was a pain in the ass when it came to the details, though. I know that they want to make it accessible but is it that hard to make it accessible while actually knowing who the characters are before you write them into the film? I couldn't help but scream out things like "Why is the white queen a whimpering girl???" That character could have pulled the place down around it's ankles without ol' wolvie to help her. It's bad enough that she had less of an accent than gambit, I felt like she was thrown in the movie soley to put the image of her into a trailer & nothing else. To a degree it was the same with gambit. His character had NO ROLE IN THE FILM. He seemed like an unnecessary ad-in, rather than a good secondary character. Blob had more of a point than him.

Overall I gave it a 6.5. If I was like kenneTHunda and I'd never read an xmen or wolverine book it would have got a 7 or a 7.5 and that's damn high for a FOX-Marvel film. But as a fan... I felt pulled in by a trailer that promised more than it gave. WWII scene lasted all of 10 seconds. Still. Better than I’d thought it would be, so cheers to that. (except for when wolverine was cutting that fire escape down, out from under gambit, like a d@mn cartoon... wtf was that? the whole theatre was laughing.)
