Why are people all of a sudden jumping on board X-Men: First Class?

Ok. Something has been bugging me for the past few weeks now...

Back in 2009, I saw X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I had seen the previous 3 X movies from Fox back when I was just getting into comics and thought they were ok. then i started paying atention to all they got wrong. Still though, I always liked Wolverine, and thought maybe this movie could be good.

Of course by now, as you all now, the movie we got was pure crap. It was a watered down, near bloodles atrocity. After that, i started becoming more leary of Fox.

I was not alone though in my thought. Many fans were pissed at the Wolverine film. So When X-Men: First Class was announced to not have the original first class team and fans got upset, i smiled. This could be just the thing that will end the end this franchise.

Fans have been prety outspoken about this movie. So much so, that I thought maybe this movie will have a poor run at the box office, and maybe Fox will give up.

I'm not so confident in this happening anymore though.

Since the trailer was released, alot of people seem to be considering seeing it including those who have been denouncing it, since it was announced. Hell, some people think it might be the surprise of 20ll.

People please. Don't be fooled. A lot of you have denounced the X-Men movies for a while now and this movie has some of the same people who started it all attached to it. Bryan Singer is producing it, which means that its going to be filled with his own take on the characters, rather than following comic book continuity.

If we pay to see this movie, we are legitamizing what Fox is doing, and granting them permission to do more of the same.

What i would like to see happen is all of fans take our original stance, and boycot this movie. We make up a huge amount of the general movie going public, and if we pass the word around, we could possibly cripple the chances of this franchise moving forward, and possibly convince Fox to sell the rights back to Marvel. Lofty expectations but hey, it is a step in the right direction.

I'm still going to watch it, just like I'm going to watch Thor, GL and Cap.

Well if you actually read the last dozen editorials on why people are changing their mind (or have liked it all along) then you'd know why. To put it plain and simple, this movie has a chance of turning this franchise around, and, so far, it is looking good. Which means us fanboys are getting excited. Which means were going to watch it with hopes.
Oh and the producer doesn't control the vision for the film. People make that same mistake when thinking The Man of Steel is going to be beast because Chris Nolan is producer.

I've been one of the most anti-First Class people for a while, bu the trailer was pretty good. I'm not saying I'm satisfied by what I think it's going to be, but it doesn't look like the debacle we were all expecting. Judging by the first trailers alone, I'd even go as far as to say it looks better than Green Lantern.

It could turn the series around. But is it it turning the direction we want to see it turn? The only characters that im seeing who were on the original team are beast and xavier. And Since Magneto was the firt X-Men villain to appear in the comics I will count him too. Otherwise, this movie seems like it is just putting in random characters to make action figures.

even if we fanboys don't pay to see the movie, million other moviegoers (who only know the x-men by the released quadrilogy) will pay to see it and they will love it.

@ ironpool007

as great as boycotting sounds, you'll get a group that will still go & see it because they just except any old shit.

maybe i expect too much from my cbm's but fox as f*cked up every cbm they've made.

@ earzmundo

i know what your saying, but isn't that what the trailer is for ? so you can prejudge the film if you want to see it or not.

To answer the question you put as the title: Because everyone is entitled to their own opinion?

If we want to see it we'll see it, its not up to you to decide for us just because you're against it. It could never be a prequel AND stay true to the comics because the original trilogy wasn't true to the comics.

I know for a fact that some of the people who remain "haters" are still going to watch this.

Frogman, I'm merely suggesting a boycott, not forcing one on people. Ultimately it's up to each individual person as to whether they go see it.
