Kevin Bacon In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3? The X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Actor "Loves The Idea"

Ever since Star-Lord name-dropped Kevin Bacon in the first GOTG, fans have hoped to see the Footloose actor dance his way into the franchise. Now, Bacon has admitted that he'd "love" a role in Vol. 3.

In the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) tells Gamora (Zoe Saldana) about a great hero from Earth named Kevin Bacon who taught an entire city of “people with sticks up their butts” to appreciate the power of dance. Quill was, of course, refencing 184's Footloose, which we later learned he considers to be the "greatest movie of all time" in Avengers: Infinity War.

Ever since that moment, fans have wanted to see Bacon appear in the franchise, and as it turns out, the X-Men: First Class actor is fully on board with the idea.

During an interview with Esquire, Bacon was asked if he'd consider a cameo in the upcoming GOTG Vol. 3. “Listen, I love the idea. I would love to be part of that,” the actor responded, before revealing that he actually went to see the first film without prior knowledge of his big mention.

"When I saw Guardians of the Galaxy, I went to see it having no idea that I was discussed... It was an afternoon in New York, I was on 67th Street and went by myself, as I often do. I was like, ‘Holy sh*t. They're talking about me. Are you guys getting this?’"

The surreal/absurdist nature of the GOTG movies would definitely accommodate a Kevin Bacon cameo. After all, James Gunn brought David Hasselhoff - another of Quill's childhood idols - in for an appearance in Vol. 2. The question is, would fans prefer to see him play himself or a completely new character?

Vol. 3 is on track to shoot later this year, so there's still plenty of time for Gunn to work something out!
