2011 has come and went quicker than Barry Allen after a coffee break and we can all agree that this was the best year for being a comic book fan. Great comic books come out this year. And of course DC new 52. But what I'm really talking about is the movies. I can not think of a year where we have a plethora of movies base on comic books like we had in 2011. I can't! So many legendary comic book icon had FINALLY gotten their own feature film after years of waiting and praying for the fan boys (and girls) and it finally happens! So I compile a list of my 5 best 2011 comic book movies. These are what I think were the best and greatest of year, so to quote the Joker, "And here we.....GO!"

cowboy and aliens Pictures, Images and Photos

A flop in the box office, I know. People were anticipated Cowboys & Aliens since last year SDCC and for the film's director (Jon Favreau, of Iron and Iron Man 2 fame), its high name cast (Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell) produce by Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, and Brian Grazer and the best title name for a movie ever. But some people found C&A a disappointment. I enjoyed it. It was not my favorite movie of all time but I really like the performance from each of the cast, cool special effects, great action scenes, dug the Old West vibe mix with a alien invasion feel and come on! The movie is call freaking Cowboys & Aliens! Were you expecting The Dark Knight??!! I do have a complaint towards the movie: Its took itself way too damn seriously. Not like The Dark Knight gritty serious; uptight kinda serious, you know? Especially coming from a Jon Favreau film, where he always brings comedy elements in his movies. Cowboys and Aliens had none. But again, great performances and it was a fun film.

Captain America The First Avenger poster Pictures, Images and Photos

First I would like to say, I'm sorry. Sorry for bashing Chris Evans for being cast as Steve Roger/Captain America since day 1. I wasn't please by the choice. I wasn't a fan of Chris Evans and his movies (especially the God awful Fantastic Four) and before seeing the movie, him as Captain America actually angers me. I thought it was a horrible choice from Marvel Studios. Well [frick] me for being wrong!! Evans was the best choice for Captain America! He did a fantastic job as the title role! Better yet, I believe he was a better Steve Roger than the shield-wielding star-spangle man. Joe Johnston brought his experience working the special effects on Raiders of the Lost Ark and blend it into a WW 2 comic book movie in nearly perfection. And my God - Hugo Weaving as The Red Skull! WOW! I could not keep my eyes off of him. This was a great introduction to the iconic Marvel superhero and I can not wait in seeing Captain America again in The Avengers. Oh and that musical number? AWESOME!! =)

3)
Green Lantern poster Pictures, Images and Photos

You guys may hated it but Goddamn me, I enjoy this movie! It wasn't perfect but nearly every movie isn't. I do in fact believes Ryan Reynolds did a good performance as Hal Jordan and yes, Blake Lively wasn't as terrible as people say she is as Carol! But lets all agree her performance was waaaay better than Kate Bosworth in Superman Returns!! =P Anyways, it was a fun superhero movie. I do not get way it has to be like The Dark Knight. Can a superhero movie be enjoyable to watch?? I thought the special effects should have been better for a Green Lantern movie and the scene in Oa was too damn short but Mark Strong was brilliant as Sinestro and I really like Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond. He was over the top but in a good way, you know? I mean, Hammond is also over the top in the comics. I wish and pray for a Green Lantern 2. Just give more lines to the other members of the corps, including Tomar Ra and Kilowog, who even in their little time on screen were amazing and really fun to watch. I will defend this movie till I'm 6 feet under, damn it!

2)

Epic. Pure epic. A Thor movie we've all been waiting for. Great special effects including in 3-D. Thor was my first 3-D movie to see in theaters and it was gorgeous to watch! Asgard look so beautiful on the big screen. And each of the cast gave great performance, especially Tom mother[frick]ing Hiddleston as Loki! Man, was he good??! And Chris Hemsworth as Thor was phenomenal. He brought the character alive on the big screen and it pay off brilliantly! And applauds to Kenneth Branagh for using his Shakespeare background and use it in Thor. Such a great debut for one of my favorite Marvel comics superhero! And just like Captain America, I'm excited to see Thor and his mighty hammer and Loki in The Avengers and Thor 2, with the new director.

1)
X-men first class Pictures, Images and Photos

A instant classic. People will still be talking about this movie in years to come. Even if the Mayan doomsday comes true, the last remaining surviving civilization will still remember how incredible X-Men: First Class was. Holy shit, it was amazing!! The action scenes, the characters, the great performances from each of the cast (yes including January Jones!=P), the special effects, the whole early Sean Connery James Bond vibe, the story -Jesus Christ!!!! This movie was perfect! Its the best comic book movie since The Dark Knight (Or Dark Knight Rises, of course!) and do not get me started on Michael Fessbender as Erik Lensherr/Magneto. WHOOOOOAA....0___0 Not since Heath Ledger we have see such an incredible performance from a actor in a comic book movie. I will be very unhappy if Michael Fassbender doesn't get a Academy Award nomination for X-Men: First Class. [frick] Shame! Nobody saw Shame; it was NC-17!! And what about Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw?? Jaw-dropping! Dear Lord was he a fantastic villain. This guy was in the original Footloose, for crying out loud!! Villain of the year goes to Mr. Bacon! Matthew Vaughn is a genius director and producer Bryan Singer has redeem himself to the good graces of the fan boys and girls after leaving X-Men 3 to King Douche-bag Bret Ratner to do the action-less Superman Returns. The sequel is without a doubt the most anticipated sequel ever. Yes even more than Dark Knight Rise! =P Stuff of legends, I can go on and on how much I loved X-Men: First Class.

Captain America: The First Avenger blows Thor and X-Men: First Class out of the water for me. And personally, I would put Green Lantern on number five...not that bad by any means, but it's the most disappointing movie of the year, if not ever. (Can't argue, you'll feel that if you're a big fan of it.)

Anyway, is it really fair to make a top 5 CBMs of the year list, if there were only 6 CBMs in the year? :)
