Is THE GUEST 2 Close To Moving Forward? David Collins Actor Dan Stevens Provides An Update

Dan Stevens, who stars in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire recently made some intriguing remarks that unfortunately, seem to indicate that a sequel to The Guest is still a far-off possibility.

Will the eagerly anticipated sequel to 2014's The Guest ever arrive? Ironically,  The Guest 2's soundtrack was made available, but there has never been an official announcement about the possibility of a legitimate sequel.

Dan Stevens, who starred as David Collins in the film, admitted that he doesn't know if a sequel to The Guest will ever get made, stating, "But I don’t know is the real answer. That really is a question that’s much more for Adam and Simon than for myself."

"I would always leap at the chance to work with either of them. There are so many other projects that we are talking about collaborating on as well, and The Guest II might be among them, but I could neither confirm nor deny at this stage."

He continued by saying that there's a good chance he hasn't finished his work in the Monsterverse franchise, which may be the next project director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett take on.

Wingard recently stated that coming out The New Empire, there are three options on the table in terms of his next project- a live-action Thundercats movie, a Face/Off sequel, and a third Godzilla film.

"David was a great, great character, and I was very, very lucky to get to work on that with Adam. But Trapper is an equally great character that might have some more mileage in him, and I’d love to see further life in him, so we’ll see. At the very least, I hope I get to work with Adam and Simon again on something," said Stevens.

To close out the interview, Stevens paid his respects to the late great Lance Reddicks, who co-starred in The Guest.

"And so I just remember that Lance had such class and such elegance about him. The way that he played that role had such gravity, and the seriousness was so cool. And there is a kind of impish quality to a film like The Guest, but particularly for the role of David."

"He’s [frick]ing with [Carver and his team] and he knows exactly how he’s going to outsmart them, and that’s part of the fun of that film."

The Guest was released in theaters on September 17, 2014 and grossed $2.7M from a production budget of $5M. However the film found a second life on Netflix, where it became a cult classic.

The film holds a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes from over 100 reviews.

The Guest Official Synopsis:A soldier (Dan Stevens) introduces himself to the Peterson family, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in action. After the young man is welcomed into their home, a series of accidental deaths seem to be connected to his presence.

I dug the ambiguity in the story though there is a part of me that would like to know more about “David” , his background and what exactly he is but the mystery is part of the fun also so of two minds about it.

Anyway , interested to see if the other projects he’s in talks with Adam about are Thundercats or even Face/Off 2…

I could see him as Tygra moreso then Lion-O in the former.

@WruceBayne - I’ll only have Keenan if Kel is playing the other lead.

I feel left out because I wasn’t eagerly anticipating The Guest 2. But now that I know that nobody knows if they’re making one, I’m disingenuously anticipating it.

OFF TOPIC

‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ Roaring to Monstrous $75M-Plus Box Office Opening. That's almost double what was expected and is a welcome Easter surprise for the box office. The event pic is also booming overseas.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is doing monstrous business at the Easter weekend box office.

After biting off $37 million on Friday, the Warner Bros. and Legendary tentpole is now on course to open to $75 million at the North American box office, well ahead of an expected $45 million to $55 million. If those predictions hold true, it will be the second-biggest opening of the five titles in the MonsterVerse library, as well as a jolt of good news for the box office, delivering the biggest debut of the year to date.

Globally, it has a chance of crossing the $200 million mark in its launch (it’s even doing well in China, where Legendary East is handling the movie). Through Friday, its early foreign tally was $47.1 million. Its opening day haul in China was $13.7 million, including previews. These days, many Hollywood films don’t even get to that level for the whole weekend.
