Variety is reporting that Sian Brooke has signed on to join Tom Cruise in Paramount's hotly awaited Mission: Impossible 6. Details on her role weren't given, but it's being described as a key part.

She's now the latest rising star to join the cast, following Henry Cavill (Justice League) and Vanessa Kirby (The Crown), who were both announced earlier this month. In addition to Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Ferguson, and Simon Pegg are all also expected to reprise their roles from previous installments in the blockbuster action franchise.

Chris McQuarrie is back at the helm for the sixth mission, utilizing a script he wrote, and production is expected to begin this spring in Paris.

Brooke is best known for her breakout role on the hit BBC series Sherlock, where she portrays Mr. Holmes' long-lost sister Eurus. She's also received acclaim for her work on other popular British series like All About George and Cape Wrath and can be seen next in the TV mini-series The Moorside.

The last episode of Sherlock was awful and sums up Steven Moffat as a writer.

However, Sian Brooke is a brilliant actress.

@UltimateCarnage - Steven Moffat co-wrote the last episode of Sherlock alongside Mark Gatiss, and with no offense to Gatiss I think it was him that dragged the episode down.

If you look at Moffats track record on Sherlock (A Study in Pink, Scandal in Belgravia, His Last Vow, and The Lying Detective) he has an almost flawless rune of episodes.

If you look at the episodes Gatiss wrote (The Great Game, Hounds of the Baskerville, The Empty Hearse, and the Thatcher episode) he has a much more all over the place run of stories, with The Great Game being his only Episode to earn much acclaim.

I genuinely think it's fair to say that the last episode of Sherlock was more Gattis than Moffat.

@BRAD3NGUNN - Same thing applies in Doctor Who, I think. I've never seen a Gatiss episode that is below the average quality of season it is in, and Sleep No More was one of the worst episodes in DW.

She was great in Sherlock. I know lots of people have mixed feelings about it, but I loved Season 4.
