Nicolas Cage is Nick Cage in the movie we've all been waiting for, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Lionsgate has finally released a trailer for the upcoming action-comedy, which will see the Academy Award-winner play a hyper-fictionalized version of himself.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, he explains, "['Nick Cage'] is an invented version of Nic Cage. The character is feeling unfulfilled and contending with the rejection that can happen so often in the small town that is Hollywood. It's not me. I'm feeling pretty good about things."
He'll be playing dual roles in the film, "Nick" and "Nicky," who is a younger version of the actor and a figment of his own imagination. "He's got the lanky long hair; he's just constantly riding Nick about his career choices. I wasn't too excited about the idea of playing myself, but when Tom sent me this script, Nicky reminded me a little of Jerry Lewis' Buddy Love in The Nutty Professor. I always admired what he did with that movie. For me, Nicky steals the show."
In addition to Cage, the cast will feature Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian; Game of Thrones), Neil Patrick Harris (The Matrix Resurrections; Harold & Kumar), Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe; Together), newcomer Lily Sheen, and Tiffany Haddish (The Card Counter; Bad Trip).
