Ozy Reviews Battle: Los Angeles

Taking a break from the Green Lantern front, I just saw this film on DVD for the first time. Was it on par with other alien films like Independence Day? Or is it a failure like Skyline...?

So, I decided to finally watch this movie since I didn't get to see it in theaters and there has been alot of hype about it. Honestly, I didn't even know anything about the movie other than that it was about aliens invading us. I didn't even know who was in it til I saw it. This review won't be as long as my others simply because there's not alot to talk about in this movie.

The plot is about a Marine Staff Sergeant who has just had his retirement approved goes back into the line of duty in order to assist a 2nd Lieutenant and his platoon as they fight to reclaim the city of Los Angeles from alien invaders.

Acting wise, the only actor who gave a good performance was Aaron Eckhart. He really impressed me in his role and gave a convincing performance. Every other actor was garbage. I'm not even going to talk about Michelle Rodriguez. For some reason, the filmakers also made the aliens seem pretty stupid and weak. The design of the aliens didn't impress much either. And there excuse for coming to Earth was water? Hollywood is really starting to go downhill. The action scenes were great (that was really the only great thing about this movie). And thanks to the director, Johnathan "shaky cam" Liebsman, it gets hard to watch the movie with the camera doing all kinds of stuff.

I'm glad I didn't see this in a theater and I'm glad I just rented it intstead of buying it. Everyone may be hating on Green Lantern right now, but this is without a doubt one of the worst movies of this year.

5/10

I thought this movie was pretty good. It proves that aliens should never mess with America cuz we'll destroy them. Anything with Aaron Eckhart in it is good.
