20th Century Fox's The Martian, which starred Academy Award-winner Matt Damon (Jason Bourne) in the lead, was one of the biggest critical and commercial successes of 2015. The film earned seven Academy Award nominations, including nominations for Best Picture & Best Actor, and three Golden Globe nominations, which resulted in two wins. At the box office, the film was a massive success, earning over $629.3 million worldwide ($228.4m domestic, $400m foreign).

After months of vague rumors and reports, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has finally confirmed that an Extended Edition for Ridley Scott's critically acclaimed The Martian is on the way and it'll be here on June 7. It will be available on the following formats: 4K UltraHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, & Digital HD.

The Martian: Extended Edition will add 10 minutes of brand new footage to the film and will also include over two hours of never before seen behind-the-scenes content, including audio commentary by director Ridley Scott, writer/executive producer Drew Goddard, and author Andy Weir. Additionally, the new edition will feature deleted scenes, unlike the Standard Edition, and there will also be a documentary detailing the science behind recreating Mars; interviews with NASA specialists & engineers; and a Q&A panel discussion about the planned journey to Mars with commentary from NASA experts. It's unclear whether the special features from the Standard Edition will carry over to the Extended Edition, but there's a fairly decent chance they will.

@TigerClaw - I don't need it. My TV somehow magically transforms normal DVDs and Blu-Rays to 3D.
