AT&T trying to piss off WB's new golden boy - the guy who gave them a billion dollar fish man film and launched the super successful Conjuring universe. These execs are a bunch of fools, especially since it turns out - after initial reports claimed it was - the budget was never the issue, and it's just execs being out of touch.
Was expecting a bad Swamp Thing show after Titans, but Doom Patrol and this showed just how good these shows could be under the right guidance. RIP Swampy, we barely knew ye, but the two episodes you've given us so far were incredibly fun.

To anyone on the fence, like I was initially before they showed off footage, this set-piece was a lot of fun, and reminded me of John Carpenter's The Thing in the best ways:

I don't have the streaming app but this looked like a comic book show done right. It's a shame when anyh show is canceled prematurely especially one that looked to be so faithfull to the comics.

That's absurd. The direction of Swamp Thing was perfect for a live-action version of the comics and it was a very top quality production.

If AT&T hated Swamp Thing I'm scared to know what they actually liked. 🧐

Let's AGREE that the show was good (I did not see it, but most people seem to think it was so I will treat that as fact). But horror is not a sustainable TV series at least not the kind that was presented in Swamp Thing. Are you going to have the same formula every week of jump scares and gore? It will get tired quick. Name another successful show that is based on that kind of horror. You could say the old "Tales From the Crypt" or even "Twilight Zone", but those shows tell a totally different story every week. Following the origin story, Swamp Thing would be the same formula...people go into the dark watery Swamp...get their head ripped off and no one can find the swamp monster...same thing next week.

@Forthas - Dude, as far as story goes, Swamp Thing has or had plenty to offer in this new series and if anything had more of a wider range to play with seeing how the new show was going to dabble in both the science and supernatural mythologies to it, same as "Tales from the Crypt" and "The Twilight Zone", so to say horror isn't a sustainable theme for a tv series, there are many shows that would argue that over with you. That and look at how long the 1990s tv series ran. Or even how long "Supernatural" has been going.

I pointed out why I thought it was different ( I presume you are referring to Tales from the Crypt).

I don't know enough about Supernatural. My understanding is that the main characters hunt different monsters which opens it up to different stories. If I am in error then let me know.

@Forthas - Wasn't the Haunting of Hill House just a huge show this past year on Netflix? American Horror Story? Buffy the Vampire Slayer? The Walking Dead?

Even Stranger things has a lot of Horror elements to it
