In the new show “Ultimate Spider-Man”, Nova will appear as one of Spiderman's friend.

“Nova is an enormously popular character,” notes Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb. “When the decision in publishing was for Rich Rider to sacrifice himself [at the climax of THE THANOS IMPERATIVE] we wanted to respect that. We all know that there are other members of the Nova Corp and this is the story of one such member --Sam Alexander.”

“He’s very much like Peter Parker was at the beginning of Spidey’s career--he’s got a lot to prove,” remarks Loeb. “The difference is that Sam comes with a full blown attitude—which, as we may suspect, might be covering up some insecurities.”

“He’s very funny--often at his own expense,” says Loeb. “Nova sees himself as a natural leader. Unfortunately, he’s the only one who sees himself that way. While he and Spidey are often at odds, we’ll see that friendship grow as the series goes on.”

“He has very different voice than the rest of the cast,” reveals Loeb. “He doesn’t quite know the limitations of his powers, so while there’s an irreverence that’s great fun, he’s also got a lot to learn.”

“We’re huge Nova fans as well, so rest assured Nova will be front and center with the heavy-duty action. There’s no task he’s not willing to get into and that bravery--even at personal risk--will put him in harm’s way more often than not. He loves playing the hero, so look for Nova to be the breakout star of the series!"

"Ultimate Spider-Man" will premiere alongside with "The Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes" on April 1st on Disney XD

I'm not watching it now. Disney dropped the ball on this one. Avengers:EMH and that's it.

I'm starting to think that they are trying to make this a Spider-man and friends show... lol... plus trying to be Young Justice. Weird, they should have just made a New Avengers show if they wanted to compete with Young Justice, would have been tons cooler.

I like it, it does look like the one Nova from Point One story. We are in good hands with Disney, people harped and still do about Avengers:EMH for having meh art design but give the story telling high remarks, that is what I hope this version of Ultimate Spider-man can and will do in my opinion. Its not trying to mimic or copy Young Justice, they want in this universe to train and teach Spidey and friends the proper way to use their powers, not to abuse them. I do hope we get an awesome Cross-over out of these two animated Franchises. Then all we need is a new X-men series and create MARVEL ANIMATED UNIVERSE and not Super Hero Squad

he,I'm just now noticing the similarities with Young Justice, even the art style is a more "rounded" version of YJ's more angular style.
but if it's good,who cares?

and it's good to see that Nova is getting more love outside the comics, first Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and now this show, not to mention that once the MCU goes Cosmic anything will be possible, maybe even a Nova movie at some point :)

@Pux, I don't think it is.I don't know if you were following the news on Ultimate Spider-Man, but the series was being developed at the same time Young Justice was.

We first heard about Young Justice in late February 2010 when Stephanie Lemelin let slip that she was cast in the show.Cartoon Network didn't confirm the series until April 21, 2010.Marvel actually announced Ultimate Spider-Man before Young Justice on April 13, 2010.

We got our first look at Ultimate Spider-Man in March 2011, 4 months after the Young Justice pilot aired and 2 months after the series officially debuted.

The series was scheduled to debut in fall 2011, but was held back to be closer to the Spider-Man movie. Now keep in mind that this is animation and requires a lot of pre and post production. So, a lot of Ultimate Spider-Man would have been written and animated before we even saw any episodes of Young Justice. It's completely incorrect to say this is a ripoff of the show.

And as for Ultimate Spider-Man featuring teenage heroes, most of those characters should be teens if you're starting out with Peter as a teen.Iron Fist is about the same age as Spider-Man, but he didn't make his debut until Peter was older and in college. But if he had been around when Peter was a kid, he would have been one too.So that fits.

Nova was actually a teen when he debuted in the comics, so it's very fitting that he's one in this series.
