So how does the English version of the new Trigun movie weigh in?

Review Opinion

Alright, this is my first time trying to write a review on something and I didn't see anything in the anime section for it yet so figured I'd put my opinion out there about the new Trigun Badlands Rumble Movie.

I was really excited when I heard from a friend they were finally going to make an english version of the Trigun movie. After seeing the commercial on tv I knew I had to have it. So I went to the local Wal-mart and picked up my $15 copy and I'm happy to say it's some of the best money I've ever spent.

The movie is based in the same time frame as the actual series somewhere in the middle before things start getting serious and a bit before Wolfwood dies. It easily fits in well with the series and has the feel like you're watching a really long episode.

I wont give too much away but here are some basic points of interest. The story starts out with Vash disrupting a bank robbery where the Robber Gasback is turned on by his henchmen. He ends up saving everyone involved as always but they all get away. 20 years later Gasback is looking for revenge on the henchmen and Vash is looking to stop him again. Along the way he meets up with a woman who is hell bent on killing Gasback as well as running into the Insurance girls. From there comedy and awesomeness ensue. The rest is for you to watch.

There is pretty much nothing I didn't like about this movie. The movie was spot on to the series as far as script goes. Vash is either really happy go lucky or super serious hero. Meril is mrs. serious and Millie is a ditz. The movie flows really well and you can really get into the action at times. The animation is a step above the series and really looks awesome and clear. The only two things that struck me a bit was Millie's outfit was slightly different, and the voices didn't sound quite right. I'm not sure if they had different voice actors or just better sound equipment but after a few minutes into the movie you don't notice the voices at all.

As for a score for this movie I'll give it two scores

5/5 for a Trigun movie.

4/5 for just general likeability as a stand alone movie.

It was good, but it did feel like an extended episode and it's definitely for the fans, wouldn't recommend it to those who haven't watched the series and if you haven't, shame on you.
