James Cameron Offers An Update On BATTLE ANGEL

James Cameron confirms that Battle Angel will be sitting on the shelf for a while due to his work on the next two Avatar movies. So, will we see someone else take on the project?

For those of you hoping to see an adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's hit manga series any time soon, James Cameron has some disappointing news for you. While we've already heard that the project may be on hold until as late as 2016, some wondered whether the director would either end up starting work on it sooner or pass the directing reigns on to someone else. Talking to MTV Splash Page, Cameron made it clear that isn't the case, revealing that the next two instalments in the Avatar franchise are his top priority.

"I see the good the 'Avatar' franchise can do in terms of keeping a world audience cognizant of our relationship with nature, but doing it in an entertainment context. Ultimately I think there's more good to be done there than with 'Battle Angel.' 'Battle Angel' is just a great, kick ass story. It would have to be pried out of my cold dead fingers. But on the other hand, I don't want to take it to my grave either. [We want to see it] at some point, yeah."

I guess what he wants doesn't matter anymore. I'm pretty sure he said he'd make Battle Angel before a new Avatar movie...

I'd rather see Cameron do a true sequel to aliens just forget about part 3 and 4.....Prometheus is sounding less and less like its connected to the alien world should be great though.

I'm not even gonna get mad by this. Cameron is a proven director it should be and when(If) it comes out it should be phenomenal. I would not want anyone else no matter who they are, To touch it.

I remember reading an article where Cameron stated he was conflicted about whether to do Battle or Avatar and ended up choosing Avatar. I doubt we'll ever see this movie, at least with Cameron in the director's chair.

Great, movies where the human race look more and more like assholes. Enough already. You know, I actually liked Avatar before it turned into an environmental lecture.

I think that first fight in Sucker Punch looks alot like how Battle Angel would look like....guess I will have to be satisfied with that for now.

Just another way pseudo-environmentalism is making the world worse instead of better.

Guys, CAMERON is shooting AVATAR 2 & 3 back to back making Battle Angel essentially 1 movie away....why all the pessimism? Granted this is CAMERON so that means 5-10years, lol, but at least it's next on his plate...that's AWESOME news as far as i'm concerned. I'm looking forward to all 3 films...

Cameron's sequels have always blown people away. Avatars 2 and 3 will do it yet again.

Like Talontd said Battle Angel is basically one film away. Cameron is too in love with that project to pass it off. I can't wait to see him finally get to it.

Funny thing is that the Oblivion film with Tom Cruise seems to have some similarities to Battle Angel. Hopefully not too similar

I was a huge Avatar hater because of its hype IMO crappy trailer and the fact that it looked like Pocahontas, but after seeing it recently i loved it. I was right a bit about Pocahontas and it isn't the greatest movie of all time but it was awesome. This sounds interesting but i'd rather have Avatar 2 first.
