After the franchise's big screen success in Japan, and now coming to America, it looks like the Dragon Ball Z film series is far from over. According to AnimeNewsNetwork:

The September issue of Shueisha's V Jump magazine is announcing on Saturday that a new Dragon Ball Z movie will open during the Golden Week string of holidays next spring.Dragon Ball manga creator Akira Toriyama is personally credited with the original concept, screenplay and character designs of the new movie "that the entire universe eagerly awaits!!"

Toriyama confirmed in the magazine that this new film, likelast year's Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, will tell a new story. He had intended to have this story during his manga's original serialization. Although he did not plan on it, he is not only putting a lot of effort in drawing the art, but also "fussing over the smallest dialogue lines." He also promised more action scenes. He teased that the story is still secret, but will be "utterly funny."

To emphasize the effort he has put into this new film, Toriyama said that even his first manga editor praised him on the work he has done, even though this editor rarely ever does that. Toriyama is confident that fans will be able to thoroughly enjoy the movie. He is currently drawing up new character designs, and asked his fans to look forward to the movie.

So ther you have it. Not only are we getting a new DBZ film, but the creator is writing and designing the new character designs! I say that's something to get excited for. What are your thoughts Z fans? Are you looking forward to the new Z film?

I'm betting this will be the second part of a movie trilogy. Battle of Gods being the first one.

OMG RAD! I've just went into my DBZ phase and have binge watched about half the show so far. Can't wait for this and Xenoverse. Although I really hope they make another show that properly continues the way Toriyama wants. I'd like to see more of the gods over the course of a new show. It's kind of lame that they haven't really done anything major other than BoG in a long time.

@sintzu I'd love to see Vegeta ssj3 but I think that they will unfortunately skip his ssj3 transformation and go straight to him having God mode.

Ahh so I guess they are going the way of probably a movie trilogy over the much rumored new series... better than nothing, but anime is usually better as a series over their movies...but Ill take new DBZ anyway I can.

Watched the latest film in its original Japanese version, just can't get around the fact that Goku sounds like a combination between a high pitched witch and an 8 year old.

I wished they'd pour tons of money into actually re-animating the entire show, DBZ is dated in its choppy animation by today's standards, but I suppose that is part of its charm.

@BigMikeReviews have you watched Dragon Ball Kai?
