Pokemon Detective Pikachu can now lay claim to being the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time, along with the best-reviewed.
With a current worldwide haul of $412 million, Ryan Reynolds' diminutive detective has zapped 2001's Tomb Raider ($357M) starring Angelia Jolie out of the way to become the final boss of big-screen video game movies. Will Sonic the Hedgehog have anything to say about that next February? Unless it surprises a lot of people by being not terrible, we doubt it!
There's a sequel to Detective Pikachu in the works with Sonic writer Oren Uziel penning the script, but no release date has been set.
Tell us, do you think the first live-action Pokemon movie deserves its spot as the highest-grossing video game movie? Sound off in the comments.
