Extras include: Interview with the Japanese Director, Akira Sound Clip, Storyboard Collection, The Writing on the Wall, Original Japanese Trailers, Original Japanese Commercials, Restoring Akira, Glossary, U.S. Trailer (2013), and Trailers. There's also the original subtitled version, as well as all of the old and new English dubs.

“Neo-Tokyo is about to E X P L O D E! Akira isn’t just a movie – it’s the genesis of a genre. Katsuhiro Otomo’s landmark cyberpunk classic obliterated the boundaries of Japanese animation and forced the world to look into the future. Akira’s arrival shattered traditional thinking, creating space for movies like the The Matrix to be dreamed into brutal reality. Without Kaneda and Tetsuo, without espers and psionic assassins, without that badass motorcycle – our world would be a far less exciting place to exist. But the manga became the movie and the movie became a phenomenon and the world took notice. Now, Akira is everywhere. If you can’t see it in the streets – if you can’t feel it crawling around inside your brain – then you have yet to be initiated. What. Are. You. Waiting. For? ”

Definitely getting this.

Wish Japan would make an Akira 26 Episode series that follows the Manga closer for its Anniversary.
Or if they did 36 episodes they could do the episode breaks at almost the same points as the Marvel Epic colorized releases. It would tell so much more of the story.

It would KILL this movie (and I LOVE this movie)

The final act of AKIRA pretty much disregards the Manga completely. A shame

I would be tempted, but i´ve been chastised by my beloved wife for spending money on the same movie over and over.
For example, I had my Star Trek movies on VHS, then i rebought all of them on DVD and then on special edition and then recently on BLU-Ray.
"are you frozen in time? why do you keep re-buying the same movies over and over??" SLAM!

Then i´m making a effort to watch NEW stuff on NETFLIX.

The manga was definitely better than the anime. Yes I thought Akira was decent but I'll admit it's a bit overrated.

I'm okay with an Americanized Akira. If it's GREAT, then AWESOME.... if it sucks we just go back to the Anime or Manga. No big deal.
And again, its not like other countries dont change our shows and movies to cater to their audiences.
Complaining about Hollywood making a crappy version is making such a big deal over nothing.
