Universal Planning Live Action Adap Of VEXILLE Anime

Warner Bros. may have "shelved" their live action Akira, but it seems studios still see some potential in Japanese Manga/Anime as Variety report that Universal have set their sights on 2007 Anime Vexille, with Evan Spiliotopoulos penning the script.

According to Variety, Universal has acquired the rights to remake Vexille with Hercules: The Thracian Wars writer Evan Spiliotopoulos on script duties, and Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson producing. Sori Fumihiko's original was set in 2077 Japan and followed a female agent named Vexille who is dispatched to Tokyo to investigate whether the Japanese are developing robotic technology, which has been banned by the U.N. due to its potential threat to humankind. I'm a casual Anime fan but I'm not familiar with this, how bout you guys? Worth a look?
