ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA Director Confirms Filming Has Begun With A Familiar Prop From ANT-MAN

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania director Peyton Reed has confirmed that shooting has begun on the movie in a now-deleted Tweet featuring a familiar prop from 2015's Ant-Man. Check out a screenshot here!

While cameras have been rolling on Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania for the past few months, the movie has been filming without the cast (COVID has changed how big productions like this approach their shooting schedules). Now, though, director Peyton Reed has confirmed that principal photography has begun.

For some reason, the filmmaker deleted this Tweet shortly after sharing it, but fans were quick to take screenshots, and we get to see an intriguing tease for the highly anticipated threequel.

As you can see, Cassie Lang's ugly rabbit from 2015's Ant-Man makes its return in what appears to be some sort of laboratory setting. There don't appear to be any spoilers for the plot of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania here, but it's certainly interesting that the filmmaker chose this image to tease fans with (Cassie Lang is expected to be a pivotal part of this movie, though).

Very little has been revealed about the threequel, but Jonathan Majors is set to appear as Kang the Conqueror...or one of his Variants!

Hopefully, we'll learn more soon - or at least see some set photos - but keep checking back here for updates! In the meantime, you can see Reed's Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania announcement below:

Can't wait for Johnathan Majors Kang the Conqueror. Is he going to be a variant of Kang or Kang Prime?

@CaptainStark - Do you think Kang Prime is gonna get used for an Ant Man Movie ? Really ?

bkmeijer2 - 7/26/2021, 2:09 AM
@CaptainStark - I'm still thinking we'll find a Kang that hid out the Multiversal War in the a trip through the Quantum Realm. Maybe the actual Immortus this time

@bkmeijer - How will he be introduce is my question. Will he'll be the big bad in Ant Man 3 or just variant fake out and Kang Prime will kill the version of himself. Highlander rules

@JDL - I say no but fans have proven wrong multiple times with racist fan casting and there theories people still make them up no matter how dumb they look when there proven wrong

@CaptainStark - I don't think they'll make him the big bad, especially if its a variant. A post-credit scene where the real Kang shows up to kill the variant would be cool.

My guess Mitchell Carson is gonna be the bad guy in this (and will be revealed as the mysterious buyer from Ant-Man 2), and hopefully with Eric O'Grady as his henchman

@bkmeijer - I could see Kang Prime in the post credit scene like they tease Thanos in The first Avengers.

bkmeijer2 - 7/26/2021, 3:33 AM
@CaptainStark - exactly. They could even play it like it's the Kang from the movie itself (since it's the same actor), but pull the rug and reveal it's actually a way more scaries and more evil Kang

I thought movies always started filming one year before they're released, so this too feels like production starts very early. Or is just because the movies need so many CGI that it requires to be that long in post-production?

@bkmeijer - I think it has a lot to with actors’ and crews’ scheduling and contracts. The Ant-Man 3 most likely had already scheduled production to start this month before COVID. It’s also possible that Ant-Man 3 was going to come out earlier in 2022

@LiteralSense90 - yeah that could also be. Wouldn't be surprised if it is Covid messing with the schedule again indeed

If the [frick]ed up rabbit toy from the first movie becomes giant in some kind of experiment then this movie is already a winner in my book. That could literally be the whole movie for all I care and I'd genuinely be happy.

Loved the first two (they’re probably among my favorite in the MCU), so I’m really looking forward to seeing this one- and Kang!

Pretty sure the film will introduce Iron Lad. Didn't he have a thing for Cassie in the comics?
