ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA Opening Scene & Kang Confrontation Descriptions From CCXP

The "Ant-Man Legacy" retrospective teaser was released during Marvel Studios' CCXP Brazil panel last night, but two scenes from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Qauntumania were also screened for those in attendance, and descriptions of both have now been shared online (via The Direct).

Paul Rudd introduced the threequel's opening sequence, which sees Scott Lang enjoying his celebrity lifestyle following the events of Avengers: Endgame. He is still in a relationship with Hope van Dyne, who has become a philanthropist and has won awards for using Pym Particles to solve housing and food problems.

The clip concludes with Scott reading an excerpt from his book at a library when he gets a call from San Fransisco Penitentiary (it seems Cassie has inherited her father's knack for getting in trouble with the law).

The second scene is an extended version of the moment teased in the trailer, as Ant-Man encounters Kang in the Quantum Realm for the first time. The villain offers to help rescue Cassie (it's not clear who is holding her captive) if Scott aids him in stealing an artifact that will allow him to escape the Realm.

We assume Lang refuses, because we then see Kang put his foot on the hero's head, kicking his helmet away and damaging it in the process.

While these scenes are unlikely to be officially released in their entirely, there's a good chance we will see more from each of them in the next trailer.

In Quantumania, Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible. Jonathan Majors joins the adventure as Kang. Peyton Reed returns to direct the film; Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard produce.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters on February 17, 2023.

It looks like a lot of work went into this one, I'm expecting it to be pivotal. Still want to see Fishburn go full Black Goliath tho...

Looks like Scott is going to get his ass beat and will narrowly escape the Quantum Realm to warn the Earth about Kang, Only to appear in an Earth ruled by Kang. A parallel to Endgame.

@SonOfAGif - that would be a great ending

@SonOfAGif - ok. Kang doesn't escape the quantum realm. He's stuck there with Lang. MODOK does escwpe however.
Believe it or not he tricks Kang

@Vigor - I can see that happening. Especially to delay and not confuse the audience timeline wise regarding the Kang Dynasty movie.

@SonOfAGif - Damn, that sounds awesome! It would also make "The Kang Dynasty" a fitting name.

@SonOfAGif -
Apparently the movie is more focused around Cassie and Janet - so don't expect Scott to do anything special. He's a male comic relief character who they want to portray as pathetic after all.

@Vigor -
That one is apparently outdated, the newer leak seems to line up more with what we've seen and it's key moments are:

SPOILERS FOLLOW:
Hank Pym is killed by Kang when Scott's heist fails, as Hank is dying he makes remarks about feeling small all his life and wanting to make a difference in the world. Janet's last words to him are apparently 'he was the biggest man she ever knew' which is partially intended as an innuendo for the ongoing gag about her getting with Bill Murray's character.

MODOK is 'redeemed' via a self-sacrifice to distract/damage Kang brought about by Cassie talking him into being good. A running joke is that he's called 'Darren' and wants to be called MODOK, getting increasingly frustrated - however he dies accepting the name 'Darren', accepting his humanity.

Janet sacrifices herself to open a Quantum Tunnel to escape the Quantum Realm. Cassie, Scott and Hope are fighting Kang, however Scott and Hope share a look before throwing Cassie through the Quantum Tunnel. Cassie as such has escaped the Quantum realm while Scott and Hope face off against Kang. Kang damages Hope's suit leaving her unable to fight and brutally beats up Ant-Man before leaving through the Quantum Realm Tunnel that closes behind him, trapping Scott and Hope.

A post-credit scene apparently implies that the Quantum Tunnel featured time manipulation. Cassie has been on Earth for a period of time and is older, monitoring something on computers however then looks shocked at the result. Presumably this is referencing Kang finally arriving.

@Scarilian - Also damn, really hate to lose MODOK so early. He’s the perfect kind of villain to bring back to give multiple heroes problems.

@Scarilian - I never understand the desperation to kill characters off in the MCU. It doesn’t add anything for me. The same characters do ‘die’ occasionally in the comics but always seem to reappear somehow.

@SonOfAGif - Actually out of the plot “spoilers” and such that I’ve read in this thread I like this idea the best. Reminds me of a “Planet of the Apes” thing. Particularly the Tim Burton film with Mark Walburg where at the end he arrives back on Earth and sees the Lincoln-Ape memorial.

"won awards for using Pym Particles to solve housing and food problems."

I wonder how Pym Particles will solve housing problems.

Will they make a small house bigger? Will they make people smaller so they can fit more under one roof?
Will the Pym particles make both homes and people smaller so they can occupy more acreage with more homes and people per square mile?

Food problems I can understand, shipping of food I can understand being that you would make the food super small to ship it in bulk and then grow it really big to feed those deprived areas.

But the housing thing is perplexing. I wonder if they will even explain that in a montage.

@TyrantBossMedia - I was picturing super tiny homes and the people shrink as they enter them then go to normal size as they leave them.

@TyrantBossMedia - By saving on build materials (using less resources), heavy machinery and transport.

Build smaller scale housing, faster and cheaper in an assembly line. Could be done everywhere with close to zero heavy equipment. Then send them anywhere, including zones of difficult access to be "embiggened" and used.

Could be used in all industry, btw.
