Jonathan Majors' Lawyer Says There Is Evidence Proving LOKI Star's Innocence; Expects Charges To Be Dropped

After it was revealed that Loki star Jonathan Majors has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman, the internet was quick to start tearing the actor down. However, what initially appeared to be a career-ending incident could blow over sooner than anticipated.

Major's lawyer has issued a statement to Deadline in which she makes it clear there is evidence that proves her client's innocence.

"Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows," Priya Chaudhry tells the trade. "We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently."

She adds that the "evidence includes video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations."

"All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever."

"Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday," the lawyer added. "The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon."

While we're by no means diminishing the alleged victim's claims, this sounds very definitive and it really does seem as if Majors' name will soon be cleared.

There have been some pretty damning, and currently baseless, comments made about the Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania star on social media, but nothing that's opened the floodgates to any sort of "cancellation."

Majors was arrested on Saturday in New York City on charges that included assault, strangulation and harassment. We're guessing an official update on the situation will come our way tomorrow, so keep checking back here for the latest.

If there is video inside the Uber, that will be pretty definitive either way.

@DalekCraigWasson - Yeah, if Majors' lawyer has video and wants it released, that bodes well for his innocence. Hope we get to see it soon. What a rollercoaster of a day.

@DalekCraigWasson - Apparently the "victim" just recanted her statement. Not jumping to conclusions, just reporting the latest news.

@DalekCraigWasson - mentioned this yesterday in the initial article. It would seem extremely strange for Majors’ PR team to immediately jump to innocence and exoneration unless they had pretty substantial evidence to back it. Once TMZ reported that their law enforcement sources were saying the incident occurred inside a taxi (hence witness) pieces started to add up a bit better

Josh Wilding hack as usual. So because these charges might get dropped we’re going to automatically dismiss the other two directors who have accused Majors of something?

I hope so. And if this is something Majors is narrowly escaping I hope he learns quickly how to course correct. Not just for the MCU -- he's an absolutely phenomenal actor and we need him in films without the real life drama holding his career back.

Just my take.

I mean I’m not gonna comment on anything I don’t know because I wasn’t there, but isn’t it a defending lawyers job to cry out his client is innocent? I’m not gonna believe anything until I see some core evidence excusing the blame on either Majors or his girlfriend.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - this isn't "my client is innocent." This is "we have a ton of evidence proving innocence and are immediately submitting it through the proper channels." BIG difference.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - I suppose from a certain perspective, it could be.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - it’s weird that your comment leans towards you believing he’s guilty and his lawyers just saying what lawyers say.

@philinterrupted - agree and a big ALSO, there are many different paths and tricks that legal and PR teams can, and will, deploy to convey the same narrative but claiming immediate exoneration and promptly submitting physical evidence would seem to indicate a hard belief that they have the truth on their side as opposed to needing to utilize strategic chicanery and semantics

@philinterrupted - my comment doesn’t lean on anyone being guilty, but right now the lights on Majors, so take it how you will.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - anybody can accuse anybody else of anything. Being arrested and charged of a crime doesn’t mean anything. There’s due process. People love the drama.

I’m hoping that this does all turn out to be a misunderstanding, as I thought he was [frick]ing great as Kang.
If not… then damnit, that’s another actor I liked who turned out to be an abusive prick.
