Jonathan Majors looks set to be a major player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kang the Conqueror, and following the introduction of He Who Remains in Loki, we'll meet another of the villain's Variants in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. We don't know which one that will be, though there's a chance the God of Mischief will also face Kang when Loki season 2 hits Disney+.
There are clearly huge plans in place for the character moving forward, and Kang is definitely someone with the potential to be the MCU's next Thanos. However, Majors signed up to join the Marvel Studios family without knowing where his story would eventually go.
"I knew everything that everyone else knew, you know, and still do actually," he tells Collider. "Where it's like this is the role, and this is where we're starting. That's as far as we got. And that was enough for me to try to understand who this character was."
"When I looked at the significance of Kang in the MCU, I agreed to the role in the same way I agree to any other film that I do," Majors continued. "What is the responsibility of the character? Can the world move forward without them? Can the scene move forward without them? And if it can then I'm okay. And if it can't then it's something that I want to take on and take that responsibility."
The actor clearly had a lot of faith in Marvel Studios, and if what we saw from He Who Remains is any indication, Kang is in safe hands with Majors. There are countless Variants of Kang out there, all of whom look set to battle for the right to make the entire Multiverse their own.
With that in mind, we're expecting to see this guy a lot over the next few years in multiple franchises!
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to be released on July 28, 2023.
