AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM Has Reportedly Not Gone Over Well In Test-Screenings

Several different sources are now reporting that James Wan's Aquaman sequel has not been well-received by test-screening audiences. Could this be why he's now in line to play Lobo?

We have a few interesting updates on James Wan's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is set to hit theaters this December.

According to several insiders, the DC Comics sequel has not been very well-received by test-screening audiences. In fact, it's been referred to as "the worst DC movie yet."

Looking at some of the films in this franchise, that would be quite an accomplishment!

These reactions do tend to be exaggerated, but it's not just the online "scoopers" that have been weighing-in. Jeff Sneider has also heard that Aquaman 2 is "terrible," and he seems to feel this is the reason star Jason Momoa is going to leave the lead role behind him and play Lobo going forward.

We've heard conflicting reports about Momoa's Aquaman status and a potential Lobo movie, but James Gunn did confirm that he wouldn't have the same actor playing two roles in the DCU, so if it is a new DC-based project that has Momoa so excited in his social media videos, it's probably safe to assume he'll be hanging up Arthur Curry's trident after The Lost Kingdom.

The first Aquaman was... not for everyone, and still managed to rake it in at the box office. Studios do tend to take test-screening reactions seriously, however, so if these reports are accurate, Warner Bros. Discovery/DC Studios may make some significant changes to the film.
