AQUAMAN: Patrick Wilson Joined The Movie Without Reading The Script Against His Agent's Advice

Patrick Wilson and James Wan have worked together a number of times over the years, most notably on The Conjuring movies. With that in mind, it probably won't surprise you to learn that when the filmmaker asked him to play the villainous Ocean Master in Aquaman, he didn't hesitate to say yes. That's despite the fact he hadn't seen a script yet and his agents advised him against signing up.

"I signed on before there was a script, before there was anything," Wilson revealed during a recent interview. "My agents were like, ‘Do you know what the role is?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s this guy.’ I show them pictures. [They asked], ‘Is it a big part?’ I’m like, ‘Guys, he’s not going to waste my time. I know that.'" That's pretty amazing and a bold move on his part when he knew next to nothing.

After all, the script could have been terrible and the DC Films Universe didn't have the best of reputations at the time! Still, the signs are all pointing to Aquaman being a hit and excitement is definitely building after that Comic-Con trailer. Are you excited to see Wilson as Orm? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below and be sure to stay tuned for more.

Everyone needs a job, and that includes Hollywood actors too.

@TheOtherOn - Patrick Wilson has worked with James Wan on Insidious and The Conjuring. He respects his directing and his craft. That's why he signed up for the role.

I would have done the same thing in his position honestly.

Then again... I just watched a movie in which LL Cool J stabs a giant super intelligent shark in the eye with a crucifix...

To be honest I probably would settle to be an extra in this movie. Just to say I get to swim around and ride a CGI armoured shark into battle.

I do hope Orm is a good villain though. The movie seems to have quite a lot going on, and I hope he manages to be a developed character and not just a plot device. His motivation sounds good on paper but his characterisation and screentime need to be great for him to deliver

Well of course he won't say no, he works with Wan in so many movies, it is like L. Jackson with Tarantino, Hanks with Spielberg, ...

And Patrick Wilson is just amazing in every movie he's in!

Now that is creative power and trust taking a role on without much details. Patrick Wilson was so great on the Fargo TV show. I can't wait to see him in action.

I think Wan is his boy. He trusts him. MBJ agreed to do Panther a little after Creed's release reportedly, no script; when Coogler just called him up and said, "you in?"

Sounds like Wilson is down to do whatever with Wan.

It's a DCEU movie Patrick. You really SHOULD HAVE READ THE SCRIPT....
