Among the collective changes that the DCEU is experiencing, whether it be project cancellations, delays, reboots, or any other command led by James Gunn and Peter Safran for a more favored and steady DC universe, something is going to feel different.
However, this difference might NOT be seen within the 'Aquaman' franchise, as a third movie following 'Aquaman: And The Lost Kingdom' could possibly be a part of the overall DCEU.
In a recent interview with Variety, star 'Jason Mamoa' was asked if an 'Aquaman 3' could potentially be a more light-hearted movie, stepping away from the "darker", and "grim" tone the first film had conveyed.
Here is what the 'Aquaman' star had to say:
"I highly doubt it. I'm too dramatic."

While we are still left clueless, having to make do with very small bits of news and rumors, for now, 'Aquaman 3' sees no plans to have the cancel button hit, but also does not see any plans to move forward following the sequel.
It can be determined that the franchise may remain intact, following the hopeful success of the sequel, releasing this December.
James Gunn now overseeing the overarching DCEU, may work better for the 'Aquaman' franchise than we thought. Gunn has proved in many of his projects that his style of "light-heartedness" and "comedy", sees praise and enjoyment from the general audience.
Should Gunn permit the stay of 'Aquaman', his comedic input for a potential third movie would definitely be an immense benefit, as now a reformed franchise.
