Willem Dafoe Explains How JUSTICE LEAGUE Sets Up His Role In James Wan's AQUAMAN
Willem Dafoe has shed some light on how Justice League will go about introducing Vulko in order for the character to take on what sounds like a far more significant role in Aquaman's solo outing.
We're now exactly one year away from the release of Justice League (here's hoping Zack Snyder unveils something to mark the occasion a little later today), and while much of the movie remains a mystery, we do know that it will take us to Atlantis. While there, we'll meet both Mera and Vulko, with the latter set to be played by Willem Dafoe, an actor who is no stranger to the world of comic book movies.
Talking to The Guardian, Dafoe confirmed that he'll return as the character in Aquaman and shed some light on how his role in that movie will differ to what sounds like a small cameo in Justice League.
"Well, Justice League is very particular because it’s an ensemble movie and my character is being introduced here in order to be a principal role in Aquaman," he told the site recently. "These films are a different experience. They have different responsibilities, different resources and different intentions. It’s nice to go between those worlds if you can. They serve different impulses."
Vulko is an interesting character who, in the comic books, has been both a friend and foe to the King of Atlantis. How his role on the big screen will differ remains to be seen for now, but we'll find out more when Justice League reaches theaters on November 17th, next year. What do you guys think?
