COMICS: Marvel Announces AVENGERS: RAGE OF ULTRON Original Graphic Novel For 2015

The comic that Avengers: Age of Ultron is named after was pretty terrible, so Marvel have other plans for the titular villain in the pages of their comic books next April. Hit the jump for details and artwork from the Rick Remender and Jerome Opeña original graphic novel...

Rick Remender and Jerome Opeña received almost unanimous critical acclaim for their run on Uncanny X-Force and they will be reteaming next year for original graphic novel, Avengers: Rage of Ultron. The book was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con today and is being lined up for an April 2015 release to coincide with Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron. It is set in continuity, and Remender was quick to point out how excited he is to be reteaming with Opeña and colourist Dean White. "Jerome is a nutjob. He's a lunatic. I've been working with him for a decade, and it's so great to be back with him. The storytelling comes first, and the absolute labor he puts into it. An OGN is perfect for him. It's literally the work of his life, and to be teamed back up with Jerome and Dean is so great." Will you guys be picking this up next year?

So we will have Falcon Cap at least until April next year...hmm

Classic Cap uniform, but from the ear it appears to be Sam. Could just be the lighting. I think they'll give Sam at least a year as Cap, and they could even keep Sam as Cap around the release on Avengers 2 since movie viewers will know Sam from Cap 2 and it wouldn't be that hard to follow

I'm guessing this will put the recent Thor, Cap, Hulk and Iron Man news back to the way it is currently.

Whoops my bad, the GN I'm talking about wasn't written by Remender, it was Endless Wartime by Warren Ellis. I might check this out...it depends.

@ThePowerCosmic: Age of Ultron could have been waaaaay better than it was. I didn't like the whole traveling back and forth in time for it took away attention away from Ultron. I would've liked it better if they just focused on the Avengers' battle with him in the future.

I think Avengers: Age of Ultron is actually a very loose adaptation of the comic that is twisted so much that it is far superior to the comic.

And yes I will be getting this comic. I've been wondering where he had disappeared to.

So I guess iron man won't be superior and Thor will get the sex change reversed for this. L

yeah that age of ultron mini series by Brian Michael Bendis was trash. so this next ultron event has to be better.

Are you serious? I was going to make a fan film called "Rage of Ultron"! Hahahaha! I never seriously thought Marvel would actually use a name like that...

Age of Ultron was a really disappointing comic and I doubt the movie can possibly be worse than that.

Your all so.... ah i cant... just because it fits into continuity, doesnt mean that its CURRENT continuity. Its steve rogers as cap, not falcon. Because this is a story that happend before current continuity. And its not a comic book. Its a graphic novel.

Remender has said story takes place in the present and in the past, during the Roger Stern/John Byrne era of Avengers. So we have flashbacks to then- with Steve as Cap and then we will be in the current time as well.,

Seems like a good promotional move. Just hope it doesn't suck like Age of Ultron.

Opena on a full GN. An Avengers GN? Awesome. Age of Ultron was a complete waste of time. This is inevitable better than that.
