Joss Whedon Teases Plans For 'Thanos' In AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON; "I F***ing Kill Them!"
Remember that shot in the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer of Captain America's broken shield and a fallen Thor? Well, if you guessed that it was somehow Thanos related, you might want to pat yourself on the back! Hit the jump for more on that and Whedon's plan to kill the Avengers...
Joss Whedon has something of a reputation for killing off fan-favourite characters, and we've all been wondering for the past two years or so now who might end up getting taken out for good in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Talking in the latest issue of Empire Magazine, the director had this to say about his plans for Earth's Mightiest Heroes. "I f*cking kill them. All of them. I do it. Marvel don't even realise it. When they see the final cut, they'll be like, 'Omigod! What are we going to do for Phase 3? We literally have no one! Except Ant-Man!' They're going to be so pissed."
That's obviously a joke, but the magazine then goes on to discuss the scene in the Comic-Con trailer which featured Tony Stark looking at an asteroid littered with the bodies of his fellow Avengers (they also confirm that this was an illusion created by the Scarlet Witch). Are they all dead at the hands of Thanos? "I can neither confirm nor deny that it totally is." Notice the emphasis there? There you have it! Of course, if this is an illusion created by Wanda, she won't know what Thanos looks like, so we may not see him make a physical appearance. A cameo does seem likely...
